Hello and welcome.
My name is Shelly,
And I will be guiding you through this emotional release practice today.
In this practice,
I will suggest a gentle way to simply be with what feels uncomfortable inside your body for a short period each day,
So that you can gradually release emotional tension from your body in a way that feels focused and effective,
And also soft and kind.
Every day,
Your body will let you know what you need to focus on in order to clear old emotional energies that have probably been stuck in there for a very long time.
So let us begin with settling into your cozy nest,
Making sure you are physically warm,
Relaxed,
And comfortable,
And with your eyes closed,
Prepare yourself to be with the uncomfortable energies in your body with a straight,
Strong,
But relaxed spine,
Receptive,
Trusting that something unfinished and not fully felt all the way through will show up today,
As we all have many layers of old emotional energy to complete and let go of,
With some of the deeper layers going all the way back to childhood.
And so as you slow down your breathing,
You might want to sense around inside what area of your body needs your focused attention today,
It might feel tight or sore,
Or it could feel quite faint or numb,
As layers of emotional tension can be quite deeply buried in the unconscious sometimes,
And so they might feel very distant,
And even very young,
So young that they might not have words yet.
So as you breathe now in and out,
Settle into the natural pace that your body wants you to breathe,
A pace in your body that feels tense.
And if you cannot find a place of tension,
You might ask your body,
What needs my attention today?
And let your body light up the place that needs attention,
And this is where you will aim to stay for the rest of this emotional release practice.
So focusing your attention in your body,
And getting as close to this place,
This tension as it will let you be.
And you will come to know with practice that if an emotional energy sensation feels too intense,
You can move your witnessing attention further back,
And if it feels too faint,
You can move closer.
So practice right distance from your emotional tension for a moment or two,
Staying within this discomfort,
And moving further back if it is too intense,
And moving closer if it feels too faint.
And now that you have found the right witnessing distance or closeness,
Focus on the energy that is inside the emotion,
And watch this emotion as energy,
Without thinking about it,
Without judging it,
And without trying to change it.
Give this emotional energy charge the focused attention it has been needing.
And I invite you to get more curious now.
What does this emotional charge do as you focus on it?
Does it intensify?
Does it move to another location in your body?
Or does it welcome your kind witnessing attention?
For a few moments deepen your curiosity and watch the energy of your emotion,
And you focus on this emotion without resisting it,
Without judging it,
And give up all efforts to modify this uncomfortable tension in any way.
And watch as the energy behind the emotion subsides,
Dissipates or disappears,
Feeling on the emotional energies without thinking as you breathe it out as many times as you need to,
Letting it release as much as it wants to today,
Feeling the increased stillness in your body,
Deep silence in your mind,
And resting in silence for a few more moments.
