Hello and welcome to this neuroplasticity meditation.
Take a moment to settle into a comfortable position.
Allowing your body to rest exactly as it is.
There is nowhere you need to go,
Nothing you need to fix.
Noticing your breath,
The gentle rise as you inhale and the soft release as you exhale.
And before we begin today,
It's important to recognize that neuroplasticity means that your brain is always changing.
Every thought that you think,
Every feeling you experience,
Every moment you bring awareness to something helps shape the pathways inside your brain.
And over time the things we focus on repeatedly become stronger patterns in the mind.
Just like walking the same path through a field slowly creates a clearer trail.
This is why practices like meditation can be so powerful when you bring your attention to calm,
To presence,
To new ways of thinking.
You begin to strengthen newer pathways within your mind.
And with time and repetition the mind becomes more familiar with these patterns.
So during this practice today you are not trying to force change.
Instead you are gently teaching your mind a new direction.
And each moment of this awareness is like placing another step on a new path that you have not trodden before.
And so we begin by simply slowing down.
By breathing.
By bringing our attention inward.
By connecting to your breathing,
You are already encouraging your nervous system and mind to move toward greater balance.
Bring your attention to the sensation of your body and how you are feeling supported in this moment.
Whether you're lying down or seated.
Where can you feel that support?
Notice the rhythm of your breath.
The subtle movement of air entering and leaving.
Now gently bring to mind a quality you would like to cultivate.
Not something you need to force,
But something you are ready to practice.
Perhaps it is calm.
Confidence.
Self-trust.
Patience.
Let one quality softly come to mind.
Imagining that this quality is like a pathway within your brain.
And each time you bring attention to it,
That pathway becomes slightly stronger.
Gradually.
Just as a path through the forest becomes clearer each time it is walked.
And as you breathe and as you focus on this quality.
Quietly repeating to yourself.
I am creating new patterns.
My mind can learn new ways of being.
I am ready and ready to move forward.
Open to change.
Notice how it feels in your body to hold this possibility.
You don't need to convince yourself.
Just allowing the idea to exist is already enough.
Imagine moving through your day.
With the quality you chose earlier.
Perhaps you are less reactive.
More patient.
More trusting.
More motivated.
Even small shifts create change over time.
Every moment of awareness is a step along a new path.
In order to encourage neuroplasticity even further.
The mind desires to be challenged.
And so we are going to sit in silence without stimulation.
For several minutes.
This is an opportunity for you to sit with the discomfort of no distractions.
Knowing that pushing your mind to these places.
Is not only beneficial.
But vital.
And whenever you're ready.
Bringing your awareness back into the space.
Noticing the shifts that occurred in the silence.
Were you able to stick with the discomfort?
What came up for you in that moment?
Ready to go about your day now.
Having engaged with your brain.
And created space for new possibilities.
And new ways of existing.
