Hi dear friend,
I'm Stephanie and I have prepared the following meditation to help ease you into sleep.
It's best to begin this meditation once you are prepared for bed.
So brush your teeth,
Get on those pajamas and begin to slip into bed and turn out the lights.
Once you've crawled into bed,
Fluff up that pillow,
Pull up the covers and cocoon yourself between your sheets and your blanket or comforter.
I want you to feel warm and secure as you snuggle into what for you is a comfortable position.
Sleep is so important for the body and you deserve this downtime.
Let's begin by just listening to your breath.
Don't change it.
Just hear the inhale and hear the exhale.
Let's just do that a few times.
Hear the inhale and the exhale as the body begins to melt just a little bit deeper into your bed.
As you take these breaths,
As the body begins to unwind,
Feel the tendons all beginning to soften.
Notice the facial features.
Unclench the teeth,
The mouth,
The jaw and slowly relax your tongue.
As you let go of the tongue,
The rest of the body will follow.
Allow those shoulders to melt into the mattress.
Continue letting go down to the elbows,
The wrist,
The fingers,
Letting go of the chest and the abdomen and all the way down your spine.
Notice yourself releasing from the hips,
Tops of the legs,
The knees,
The ankles and the toes.
And take a moment as you actually feel your body almost as if you were floating.
So it's as though the body is laying in a giant cloud and you feel absolutely weightless.
Let yourself experience and enjoy this calm,
This quiet,
The body this relaxed.
Take your time.
Just melt for a moment,
Completely cradled by the covers that surround you,
By the warmth from within and allow yourself to drift off to your own place of quiet,
To your own place of comfort.
Perhaps you're laying next to a wonderfully warm,
Crackling fireplace,
On a couch that cocoons you just like your bed.
Maybe you're laying out by the ocean with the sand surrounding you.
Wherever it is that you want to let your mind drift off to,
Let yourself go there now.
Let yourself experience the calm and let everything begin to be released,
Any tension,
Any discomfort,
Any pain through each exhale as you calmly and slowly drift off to sleep.
Have a wonderful rest and enjoy.
