Hi friends,
Welcome to week three of Seasons.
Today we're going to talk about holy hibernation,
When rest becomes obedience.
So I just wanted to share with us a friendly reminder that even Jesus withdrew.
He rested.
He stepped away.
He honored the limits of his body and his soul.
Winter invites us into that same holy hibernation,
A season where less is not laziness,
But wisdom.
And rest is not indulgence,
It's obedience.
You are allowed to need rest.
You are allowed to take rest.
So may this week be marked by gentleness towards yourself and trust in the God who restores.
So as we sit and we think about this holy hibernation,
Let's remember what Mark 6 and 31 says.
And it says,
Then because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat,
He,
Being Jesus,
Said to them,
Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.
Let's just take a moment to sit with that for ourselves.
So close your eyes and imagine Jesus inviting you to rest beside him.
Breathe deeply and hear him say,
Come away.
Allow your body to soften with each breath.
Sit with this invitation for two or three minutes and end by saying,
I receive your rest.
Thank you for joining me today.
And I look forward to connecting with you again next week.
