Honoring Endings
by Terri Cole
Honoring endings is a way to honor your own growth and evolution, as well as the significance of the experiences that have shaped you. It allows you to find closure, make peace with the past, and understand that each ending carries the potential for new beginnings and fresh opportunities.
Transcript
Welcome to your honoring endings meditation.
Please find a comfortable place where you can sit or lie down now for the next 10 minutes or so.
Put up your do not disturb sign,
Get some lavender oil,
Maybe light a candle,
And make sure that you're completely physically comfortable and that you're warm enough.
Now let's start.
Just gently close your eyes and start by taking a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in through your nose and out through your nose.
Take another long,
Slow,
Deep breath and on the exhalation feel any tension,
Any fatigue,
Any anxiety leaving your body with your breath.
Now let's do a full body relaxation.
I want you to visualize or imagine a beautiful amethyst light coming in through the crown chakra at the top of your head,
Moving from above to below.
Every part of your body that this light touches instantly and completely relaxes.
Feel that light moving down from the crown of your head to your eyes,
Relaxing all of the muscles in your face and your jaw.
Feel the warmth of that light and that relaxation moving into your neck,
Down to your traps and your shoulders,
Relaxing the muscles in your arms,
Your biceps and your triceps,
Your elbows,
Your forearms,
Your wrists,
All the way down to your hands and your fingers.
Now see and feel that beautiful amethyst light moving to the back of your body,
Relaxing your upper back,
Releasing your middle back,
Relaxing your lower back and your buttocks.
Allow your back to completely and totally relax.
Feel that light moving to the front of your body,
Relaxing the big muscles of your chest,
Moving down your side body to your obliques.
Visualize this light pouring into your entire torso,
Illuminating all of your internal organs as well,
Detoxifying and relaxing.
See and feel the warmth of this light moving into your hips,
Relaxing the big muscles of your thighs,
Moving to your hamstrings,
Your knees,
Your shins,
Your calves,
All the way down to your ankles,
Your feet and your toes.
Now I want you to see this light encircling the outside of your body as well.
Allow yourself to float in this cocoon or halo of protective,
Relaxing,
Healing light.
No harm can come through this light,
Only goodness,
Only positive,
Loving energy.
And now that you're relaxed,
From the top of your head to the tips of your toes,
It's easy for you to visualize with perfect clarity as we move into this relaxation,
This meditation on how we can honor our endings.
Grief might be a reaction that we have to loss of any kind,
But most people really associate grief with the death of a person.
But as we know,
Grief can come from something ending,
Even if it's a positive thing.
It could be the end of a marriage,
It could be the end of college or the end of grad school,
It could be the end of a job that you know it's time for you to leave.
And yet there is still sadness and grieving about what you might miss.
So the way that we're honoring our endings is by looking at them honestly.
Instead of running away from them or avoiding them,
Actually standing firm.
Visualize yourself right now,
Turning around and looking directly at any ending that you've avoided processing or any ending you might be in the process of right now.
This could have to do with health,
It could have to do with life cycle,
The loss of a pet or a job,
Income.
Sometimes it might be counterintuitive to think about honoring the ending of something that was hard or negative,
But we become very accustomed to the way our lives are.
Even a bad relationship ending requires us to honor it properly.
The healthy part of us may be happy and yet another part of us will be afraid.
So I want you to visualize right now,
Bring to mind anything that you have happening in your life right now that needs your attention.
Right now what endings do you need to honor properly?
And I want you to think about the good and the bad of any of those things.
What will you miss?
What will you not miss?
What are you grateful that you won't be experiencing again?
Even raising children.
When you're in it,
It's amazing and you're grateful to do it and you're happy to do it.
And yet when it starts to be over there's also a relief and there's space.
Deepak Chopra says,
What in your life needs to die so that what you're creating can be born?
So just allow yourself to think about those things right now.
Now let's slowly move into our affirmation.
With gratitude I honor my endings and welcome new beginnings.
With gratitude I honor my endings and welcome new beginnings.
With gratitude I honor my endings and welcome new beginnings.
So continue silently repeating this affirmation in your mind,
Allowing that meaning,
Allowing that vibration to reverberate throughout every cell of your body and I'll let you know when it's time to come back.
Please gently stop repeating our affirmation now and just allow the stillness and silence to sink in.
Allow the excitement about what might be waiting for you,
What might be happening next for you,
To live in harmony with the sadness you may experience with things ending because this is the human condition.
So I'm going to ask you to take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in through your nose all the way up to the top of your head and release.
And let's do that one more time.
Long,
Slow,
Deep breath in through your nose and release.
And now slowly stretch your hands and rock your feet.
Give yourself a nice,
Big,
Full body stretch and allow these feelings of gratitude to linger today and tomorrow and all month as you do this meditation.
I hope you have an amazing week and as always,
Take care of you.

This was perfect for me. Leaving my yoga studio after 19 years (not by choice) and I found this really helped me with acceptance, also realising that everything changes. Terri’s voice is lovely too and the pace is perfect. I really found this helpful for my ending.
