Hello there.
My name is Terry Cole,
And today we're practicing a short self-consideration with affirmations exercise.
This is a simple technique that can be surprisingly effective,
As the repetition of affirmations can rewire our brain through a process called neuroplasticity,
Where the brain forms new neural connections by repeatedly activating pathways associated with positive thoughts,
Words and behaviors.
This repetition reinforces positive associations and can lead to changes in thought patterns,
Stress levels and overall well-being.
It can put us in a position daily to have more productive thoughts.
It can help quiet the inner critic and actively bring more self-consideration into our daily lives.
So let's begin.
Find yourself a comfortable place where you can sit undisturbed for the next four minutes or so.
Gently close your eyes,
Place your hand on your heart,
And imagine that you're talking to the little child within you,
Your inner child.
Now think about what would be soothing for that little one to hear.
With kindness and compassion in your voice,
Imagine whispering words of love,
Affirmation,
Support and kindness.
I'll share a few affirmations for you to silently repeat after me,
And then I'm going to give you a chance to come up with your own that you can silently repeat.
You are allowed to rest.
You don't have to carry it all.
You are worthy of your desires.
You are more than enough,
Just as you are.
You are divinely guided and protected.
You deserve to be seen,
Heard,
Accepted,
And loved.
You are loved.
Now we'll take the next 30 seconds or so,
And I'll have you come up with your own affirmations for your inner child that you can start repeating silently in your mind,
And I'll let you know when it's time to stop.
Please gently stop repeating your affirmations and take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath in to let the words of love,
Compassion,
Acceptance,
And celebration sink in.
