This 8-hour sleep recording combines gentle night train sounds with a guided sleep story called The Silent Pool. Designed to help you relax deeply and drift into natural sleep, the steady rhythm of the train creates a sense of safety and motion, while the story gently occupies the mind so it can let go of racing thoughts. You can begin listening at bedtime and allow the soundscape to continue all night, helping to reduce awakenings and encourage deeper rest. Ideal for sleep, nighttime anxiety, or anyone who finds comfort in long-form ambient sound with light guidance. Best enjoyed with headphones or a low speaker volume.

This guided audio recording will help to gently guide you into a deep state of relaxation from where you will have the option to drift off to sleep.

In a few moments you will embark on a pleasant and gentle journey of visualisation that will take place within your mind.

To begin your journey,

Find a comfortable place where you will not be disturbed and sit or lie down.

Close your eyes and take a few long deep breaths,

Allowing yourself to relax.

Now just fall into a natural breathing pattern and enjoy this immersive experience.

The dreamweaver has left the desert behind and you wake to see the train has reached the distant hills.

You get up and go to the dining car for breakfast,

Then go down to the viewing car where a couple of other people are seated.

The hills rise each side like crumpled green quilts.

You can see the white dash of water at times where a stream rushes down.

Reading your itinerary you see that these are called the dreaming hills and that you will make a stop to visit the silent pool,

A small body of water that is reputed to bring peace of mind and body and calming dreams.

The dreamweaver staff will provide a picnic lunch by the pool.

You look down the list and tick off your preferred food and drink.

The old lady from the village is sitting not far away and she gives you a friendly smile which you return.

Although everyone on the train is from the haven,

She has been a constant and reassuring presence,

Almost as if she is making sure everyone is fine and needs for nothing.

Roll on far into the horizon and you sit back and watch as the click and rush of the wheels on the track carry the dreamweaver on.

The sky sweeps to the ends of the earth,

Small clouds floating over the vast blue canvas.

The green of the hills and the blue and white of the sky are so very vivid,

They look newly painted.

It is a serene and lovely landscape,

Not wild but almost comforting.

A river runs down in the valley,

Glittering with sunflashes on the water.

Just before lunch,

The train slows at one of the tiny picturesque stations that seem to be a part of this journey.

A paved path winds through woodland where birds song and you can hear the sigh of wind in the tops of the branches.

After a short walk,

The path leaves the trees and you find yourself in a meadow.

The trees circle it like benign guardians.

Butterflies hover over wildflowers white as stars and in the centre lies a blue pool.

It is not large enough to be called a lake and its colour is deep cobalt.

The water is very still.

Halfway around the pool stands a marble structure about three feet high.

It looks a little like a drinking fountain.

The path circles the lake and there are wooden tables and benches to sit at.

You choose a seat and the staff arrive with a picnic box for you.

They unpack it and then leave you to enjoy the meal that you chose earlier.

It is an incredibly quiet place.

No one talks,

They simply eat and drink as you do,

Basking in the silence.

The air is fresh as dew,

Scented with pine and grass and a delicate fragrance you think might be the flowers.

After you finish your meal,

You fold your arms on the table and just drink in this tranquil place.

The old lady gets up and walks to the marble structure.

You see her drink,

So it clearly is a drinking fountain as you guessed.

You decide to try it for yourself.

The path brings you close to the edge of the pool.

It retains its amazing colour but is crystal clear and not deep.

You can see no fish or plants,

Just a smooth bottom of pale sand.

Reaching the drinking fountain,

You see words carved on the marble.

The silent pool is fed from the well of dreams.

You press the button and water plumes up.

You catch some in your hand and it looks and smells like any other water,

So you sip a little.

It tastes refreshing as if it has filtered through rocks.

There is no chemical tang at all.

You feel all at once both awake and yet relaxed.

A little dreamlike but in a contented way that causes you to walk very slowly back around the shore.

The others from the train follow in your steps to take a drink.

The stillness melts into you as you sit back at the table.

You almost feel as if you are assimilating that water,

As if it is working through every part of you,

Cleaning.

You watch the lake,

The drifting clouds,

The slight brush of the breeze in the trees.

You are not sure how long passes before the lunch things are collected and you walk back to the station.

The shadows under the trees are deeper now and as you reach the station,

You see the sky is tinted with sunset colours.

There is a light meal waiting on a tray in your cabin and you are beginning to yawn even as you eat it.

The cabin has been tidied and everything is fresh.

You make yourself ready for bed and relax,

Feeling as if your body sinks into perfect relaxation.

Dreamweaver clacks on over rails,

Through the dreaming hills under the stars.

The rhythm that draws you gently down.
