So hi everyone and thank you for joining me.
So today we are going to go on a journey that bridges two powerful healing worlds which is energy work and and somatic awareness.
Now people have talked about auras,
Energy fields,
Chakras as if they are these mystical invisible things that only special people can sense.
But here is what I've learned through my own work and my own experience.
Your energy body is real and it's as tangible as your physical body.
You just need to learn how to feel it.
Now in very simple terms your energy body is a subtle field of life force that surrounds your physical form.
In traditional Chinese medicine it's called Qi.
In Indian traditions it's called Prana.
In my work I simply call it life force energy and it's constantly communicating with you through sensation,
Temperature,
Vibration and feeling.
Now the beautiful thing about combining energy healing with somatic practices is that we are not just visualizing or imagining energy,
We are actually feeling it,
Sensing it,
Experiencing it as a real sensation in and around our bodies.
So today we'll use your body's wisdom to map your energy field,
Sense where it flows freely,
Where it might be stuck and how to work with it as a living breathing part of who you are.
Now this is not about having any special psychic abilities,
We are simply tuning into the subtle sensations you're already experiencing but maybe you haven't learned to recognize them yet.
Every time you've felt someone's presence behind you or around you or you've sensed the mood when you walk into a room or you felt drained around certain people,
You have been sensing energy.
Now find the most comfortable position for you in this moment.
Lying down usually works best for this practice but sitting is perfectly fine too.
Just make sure that you're supported and you won't be disturbed.
Now let's begin by creating a foundation of safety and presence in your physical body.
We'll start with the physical body because your energy body is intimately connected to every cell,
Every nerve and every sensation that you experience.
Take three conscious breaths with me,
Feeling the air entering your nostrils,
Traveling down to your lungs and releasing it with a gentle sigh and again breathing in life force energy and breathing out any tension or distraction in this moment and one more time breathing in presence and breathing out into this moment.
If you haven't done so already at this stage,
You're very very very welcome to close your eyes.
Now let's wake up your body's sensing capacity.
Start by noticing the temperature of the air on your skin.
Is it cool?
Is it warm?
Notice any slight breezes or air movement around you.
Feel the weight of your body against the surface supporting you.
Notice how gravity is holding you and supporting you.
Now rub your palms together vigorously for about 10 seconds.
Let's create some friction and some warmth and some energy between your hands.
Rubbing my palms,
Rubbing my palms and I can now stop and I can now relax.
I can hold my palms about an inch apart facing each other.
What do you notice?
Warmth,
Tingling or subtle sensations between your hands?
Maybe this is your first taste of feeling energy.
With your palms still facing each other,
Slowly move your hands a little further apart.
Maybe two inches now,
Three inches now.
Can you still sense something between them?
This something is your energy field becoming tangible.
Now bring them closer again and feel the warmth and the tingling return.
So whatever you glimpse right now is exactly what we are going to explore today.
You are going to explore your entire energy body,
Not through imagination but through real felt sensation.
Now place your hands wherever it feels comfortable on your body and let's continue.
Now your energy body has layers,
Just like your physical body has skin,
Muscles and organs.
So we'll start by sensing the layer closest to your physical form.
Bring your attention to your skin,
The entire surface of your body,
The entire outer surface of my body and notice that your skin is not just a boundary,
It is a sensing organ.
It is constantly reading the environment around you.
Now imagine that you could sense beyond your skin,
About an inch or two from the physical body.
Now this is your first energy layer,
Sometimes called your etheric body.
It's closely connected to your physical vitality and health.
Now place your hands about two inches above your chest,
Not touching your body,
Just hold them.
Now place your hands in front of your chest and hold them there and see what you sense.
You might feel warmth,
Coolness,
Tingling,
Vibration or even a subtle sensation,
Like you're touching something invisible but real.
Now trust whatever you experience,
There is no right or wrong way to feel energy.
Now slowly move your hands up and down along this two-inch space above your body,
Like you're scanning the energy above your chest.
Being very open,
I'm now moving my hands up and down my chest.
My hands are two inches above my body.
I'm just scanning the energy,
The area above my chest.
Just notice if some areas feel different than the others,
Warmer,
Cooler,
Denser,
Lighter.
Now move your hands to hover and go above your belly area now.
Both my hands two inches above my belly,
Just holding them there.
What do you sense here?
Now the energy above different parts of your body can feel completely different.
Feeling what you feel,
Sensing what you sense.
Now let's take our hands above the forehead.
Now drop them down above the throat,
Above the heart.
Just exploring this layer of energy that's intimately connected to your physical body.
Now let's expand our awareness a little further out,
About five to six inches from your physical body.
Now this is moving into what many traditions call your emotional energy body,
Where your feelings and emotions live as energy.
Now your hands may already be above your chest,
About two inches.
Now hold your hands further up,
About six inches from the chest.
Now again,
Just move them a little bit further up.
Even if it's not six inches,
It's not five inches,
It doesn't matter.
So we'll just move them further up from where they were.
And just sense.
Now this layer often feels more fluid,
More changeable than the layer closer to your skin.
And now slowly,
Gently,
You can drop your hands down and you can put them wherever you feel comfortable right now.
Now that we have glimpsed what energy body feels like,
Now we are going to take a somatic journey through your energy body using your body's own wisdom to guide us.
Start by sensing the energy around your head.
Hold your hands near your head and feel into the space around it.
Your head energy often relates to your thoughts and to your mental clarity,
Your connection to your intuition.
What do you notice at the top of your head?
Is it moving?
Is it still?
Is it light?
Is it heavy?
Is it clear?
Is it foggy?
Just observe with curiosity.
Now you can take your hands down and place them on your throat and sense the energy around your throat area now.
This is your center of expression,
Of speaking your truth.
What does the energy feel like here?
Some people sense this area is more constricted,
Others as very open.
Breathe into this space and imagine the energy here becoming clearer and more flowing.
Now move to the energy around your heart.
You can place both your hands there as well.
Now this is often where people feel the most tangible energy sensations.
As you place your hands on the heart center,
Really feel into the space.
Your heart energy expands much further than you might think.
See if you can sense expansion or contraction in your chest.
This is your heart's energy field.
Your capacity for love,
Connection and empathy.
Just notice if your heart energy feels open or is it protected,
Expansive or contracted.
There is no judgment here,
Just awareness.
Breathe some love into this space.
And imagine your heart energy softening and expanding just a little.
Softening and expanding just a little.
Now let's move to the belly area.
You're welcome now to drop both your hands onto your belly.
This is your center of personal power,
Your gut wisdom and life force energy.
As you place your hands on your belly,
Just sense the energy here.
This area often has a lot of vitality.
You might feel warmth,
Strength or a sense of groundedness here.
Now you can relax your hands to the side or you can keep them on the belly,
Whatever feels right for you.
And move down to the energy around your hips and your pelvis.
This is your creative energy,
Your connection to life force,
Sexuality and also your creative power.
What does the energy feel like here?
Warm or cool,
Vibrant or quiet.
Now finally,
Sense the energy around your legs and your feet.
Your connection to earth,
To feeling grounded and stable.
Feel how your energy extends down through your legs and into earth,
Like energetic roots connecting you to the planet's energy.
Now at this stage,
Your body may be feeling heavy and relaxed.
Now that you have mapped your energy body,
Let's work with it as a living system now.
So,
Place your hands back on your heart and imagine now breathing energy in through your heart center,
Drawing in whatever quality of energy you need right now.
Maybe peace,
Maybe vitality,
Maybe clarity,
Maybe love.
As you breathe in,
Sense this energy filling your heart space and beginning to circulate throughout your entire energy body.
As you exhale,
Imagine this energy now flowing out through your hands,
Through the top of your head,
Through your feet into earth.
You are a part of a constant circulation of life force energy.
Now,
In this space right now,
If you notice any areas that feel stuck or heavy,
Just spend a little extra time there.
Breathe into those areas and imagine the energy beginning to move and flow again.
Sense your entire energy body now as one complete field.
This is your energy space.
This is your energetic home.
Feel how it belongs to you,
How you can sense it,
Work with it and care for it.
As my energy body is active right now,
Once again,
Is there any areas right now that feel tight,
Stuck or heavy?
Imagine breathing into those areas and imagine energy beginning to move and flow there freely again.
You may be sensing heat,
Cold,
Tingling movements in this moment.
Anything that the body is doing,
Just allow that to happen.
If you think you need more time,
You're very welcome to pause this meditation now and continue to breathe life force energy into areas of your body where it needs to go.
As we complete this practice,
Let's set some healthy energetic boundaries now around your energy field.
Imagine a gentle protective light now surrounding your entire body.
There is a gentle protective light now surrounding my entire body.
And this is what I call is my energetic boundary.
It allows love and positive energy to flow in and out while filtering out anything that doesn't serve my highest good.
This boundary is strong but not rigid,
Protective but not defensive.
And it's made of your own loving awareness.
Take a moment now to thank your energy body for sharing its wisdom with you today.
Your energy field is constantly working to maintain your health,
Your emotional balance and your connection to life force.
Place your hands on your heart again and commit to paying attention to your energy body more often.
Notice when it feels expanded,
Notice when it feels contracted,
When it needs clearing or when it needs attention.
Now begin to wiggle your fingers,
Wiggle your toes,
Gently move your head from side to side,
Feeling yourself fully present in both your physical and energy bodies.
When you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes and return to your awareness.
Knowing that you now have the tools to sense,
Work with and care for your energy body.
Now even if this was new for you,
Just take a moment to notice how you feel right now compared to when you started.
You may feel more spacious,
You may feel more aware of things around you,
Or you may feel more connected to your own life force energy.
Just remember,
Your energy body is always with you,
Always communicating with you through sensation and feeling.
The more you practice sensing it,
The more skilled you'll become at reading your own energetic needs and maintaining healthy energy throughout the day.
Now this is practical energy work,
Not just concepts,
But real tools that you can use to feel better and work with your life force in conscious ways.
