Welcome to this yoga nidra practice.
A space where deep rest and awareness coexist.
As you settle into stillness,
Allow yourself to surrender fully.
There's no need to do anything,
No need to hold on to the day.
This is your time to receive,
To restore,
To drift into sleep with a sense of peace and purpose.
Close your eyes and take a slow deep breath in.
Fill your lungs completely,
Then exhale gently,
Releasing any tension.
Feel the weight of your body becoming heavier,
Sinking into the surface beneath you.
Each breath draws you deeper into stillness.
Inhale deeply,
Exhale fully.
Inhale deeply,
Exhale fully.
Soften,
Release.
Gently set an intention,
A sankalpa.
Perhaps it's simply to rest deeply,
Or maybe it's to connect with love or to awaken to the world with clarity.
Don't focus too much on your intention.
If it doesn't come naturally,
It may arise during the yoga nidra.
Inhale deeply,
Exhale fully,
And if an intention arrives,
Let this be your anchor as you drift towards sleep.
If an intention does not arrive,
Then allow loving compassion to be your anchor.
Bring your awareness now to the space around your solar plexus.
A couple of fingers below your chest,
And then a little deeper towards the spine area.
Imagine that you're breathing from this area.
Feel the energy in this space.
How does it feel?
Whatever the energy is around this area,
Can you bring in the ever-present energy of loving compassion?
Even if the energy was already loving compassion,
Let even more mingle with it.
Allow the loving compassion to seep throughout the energy in this space.
So,
If the energy was a little difficult,
Or sad,
Or anxious,
Loving compassion eases this energy.
It's absolutely okay for all energies to exist in the body.
When we can infuse them with loving compassion,
The energy may shift.
We may be able to relate to it a little more.
Allow loving compassion to hug the energy.
Allow the energy to flow.
Feeling the ever-present energy here of loving compassion now.
Start to allow it to flow around your body.
Everywhere I mention,
The loving compassion flows to that area and touches your body with loving compassion.
All the way into the right thumb,
Second finger,
Third finger,
Fourth finger,
Little finger,
The back of the right hand,
Palm of the right hand,
Around and within the right wrist,
The right forearm,
Upper arm,
Around and within the right shoulder,
Down towards the right shoulder blade,
To the space between the shoulder blades,
Just behind the heart space,
All the way over now down to the left little finger,
Second finger,
Third finger,
Fourth finger,
And thumb,
The palm of the left hand,
Back of the left hand,
Around and within the left wrist,
Left forearm,
Upper arm,
Around and within the left shoulder,
Into the left shoulder blade,
And back to the space between the shoulder blades,
To the space of the heart,
Nestled in the lungs,
Deep within the chest area,
The chest itself,
All around the chest,
Into the space of the ribcage,
Around the ribcage,
To the space of the back,
The whole back,
All the way down to the lower back,
To the tailbone,
Across the pelvis,
To the right buttock,
Down to the right heel,
Right sole of the foot,
Right big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Fifth toe,
Front of the right foot,
All around and within the right ankle,
The right calf,
The right shin,
Around and within the right knee,
Deep into the right thigh,
The front of the right thigh,
Back of the right thigh,
Into the space of the right hip,
Across to the left buttock,
All the way down into the left heel,
Left sole of the foot,
Left big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
Fifth toe,
The front of the left foot,
Around and within the left ankle,
Left calf of the leg,
Left shin,
Around and within the left knee,
Deep into the left thigh,
Back of the left thigh,
Front of the left thigh,
Deep into the left hip space,
Around the whole pelvis,
Deep inside the pelvis,
All the way to the lower belly,
The whole of the belly,
Sides of the waist,
Deep into the space of the ribcage,
Back to the space of the solar plexus,
Into the space of the neck,
Back of the neck,
Into the space of the throat,
The jaw,
Deep into the space of the mouth,
Around the tongue and the teeth,
Maybe feeling your tongue come away from the roof of the mouth,
The bottom lip,
Top lip,
All the muscles around your mouth,
The cheekbones,
The muscles around the eyes,
The eyes themselves,
The space between the eyes,
Forehead,
Temple,
Frown of the head,
Back of the head,
The space just behind the ears,
All the curves of the ears,
Deep into the space of the ears,
Into the head space,
Your whole body softens,
Your whole body lets go of tension as it meets and fills with loving compassion.
Notice your breath now,
Slow and rhythmic,
Each inhale brings peace and each exhale releases what no longer serves you.
There's no need to control the breath,
Simply allow it to flow,
Effortless,
Soothing,
Guiding you into deeper rest.
Imagine yourself in a vast and serene landscape,
Perhaps a moonlit ocean,
Or an ancient forest,
Or a sky filled with endless stars.
Here loving compassion are eternal,
Untouched by time or circumstance.
The waves continue to rise and fall,
The trees stand tall through every season,
The stars shine whether seen or unseen.
Know that love like the ocean is unending,
Compassion like the sky is boundless,
Feel the breeze of the night sky on your skin.
Acknowledge that the breeze is infused with the loving compassion of the world,
It touches your skin,
It flows around you and you breathe it in.
Acknowledge that the stars above you are billions of years old,
They have shone for years before your arrival and they will shine on.
Full of magnificence,
Full of knowledge,
Full of loving compassion.
Hear the sound of the waves lapping against the shore.
There's a knowing that they'll always be there,
They will always flow.
Feel the comfort of this knowing.
Acknowledge the depth of the roots of the great trees in the forest.
They started as small seedlings centuries ago,
They have heard,
They have witnessed life go on.
And they breathe in and share with us the loving compassion of the world.
Breathe it all in.
Picture yourself here,
A place of deep serenity.
Feel the love and peace eternal around you,
Holding you gently,
Lulling you into complete stillness.
Feel the presence of deep comfort surrounding you,
Like a warm embrace.
This moment is timeless,
Weightless.
You are wrapped in a cocoon of calm,
Drifting effortlessly into the vast,
Soothing night.
Coming back to your heartfelt intention,
Your sankalpa.
Maybe silently repeating it to yourself,
Or simply just resting in loving compassion.
Feel yourself floating,
Weightless,
Carried into the deepest rest.
You are safe in this stillness.
You are at home.
