Welcome to this guided meditation.
This is your time,
A space to reconnect with yourself,
To explore the patterns and beliefs that shape your inner world,
And to gently release the ones that no longer serve you.
You don't need to fix anything.
You don't need to force change.
Just let yourself arrive here,
Softly,
Openly,
And curiously.
Begin by making yourself comfortable.
You might be lying down or sitting upright.
Whichever allows your body to feel supported and safe.
Now let your eyes gently close or have a soft gaze.
Then let your breath begin to deepen,
Just a little.
And let the breath guide you home as the outer world softens and starts to fall away.
Feel the natural rhythm of your breath.
Flowing in,
Flowing out.
No need to control it.
Just observe.
Follow it like a gentle thread leading you inward.
Bring your awareness now to the points of contact.
Your body resting on the surface beneath you.
Allow gravity to hold you.
Let your weight drop.
Let your shoulders soften.
Let your face become relaxed.
And with each exhale feel yourself arrive more fully in this moment.
Into your body.
Into yourself.
Knowing that you're safe.
You're supported.
You're exactly where you need to be.
Let me tell you a little story to shape our meditation.
It's a simple one,
But it holds an important message.
Researchers once placed an ant inside a circular glass container.
To mark the boundary they drew a thick black line around the outside edge.
At first the ant explored.
It'd walk up to the edge of the glass and then just turn away,
Exploring other sides.
Once the ant had stopped exploring,
The researchers removed the glass.
The ant started searching again,
But going no further than the black ring that remained.
Then the ant stopped exploring again.
So the researchers removed the circle and the glass,
So there was nothing containing the ant.
The ant would then go up to the edge of where the glass and black ring once were,
But it would explore no further.
The ant had become so conditioned that it wouldn't even try and explore beyond where the glass once was and the black line no longer stood.
The ant was conditioned by something that no longer was true.
And many of us live our lives this way too.
We live inside mental circles,
Shaped by voices from our past.
Our parents,
Teachers,
Partners,
Culture,
Even our own fear.
Some are easy to see.
Others are invisible,
Woven into our thoughts,
Our habits and our emotional patterns.
This meditation is a chance to begin seeing those rings and to gently step beyond them.
I invite you now,
In your mind's eye,
To imagine yourself standing in a wide,
Open space.
Quiet,
Calm,
Still.
The ground beneath you feels soft and earthy.
You're barefoot,
Rooted,
Present.
As your awareness settles,
You begin to notice something.
Circles,
Etched into the ground around you.
Some are clear and bold,
Easy to see.
Others are barely there,
Not drawn,
But sensed.
These are your boundaries and beliefs.
Some visible.
Some invisible.
All shaping the way you move through the world.
Let's explore the visible rings first.
These are the beliefs you're aware of.
Rules and patterns that may have been placed around you by others.
Rings that say,
Don't ask for too much.
You're not worthy.
You're always wrong.
You must always be strong.
You must earn love.
Whatever they say,
You know that these beliefs are familiar.
You can name them.
And as you stand before one right now,
Ask yourself,
Is this true for who I've become?
Does this still protect me,
Or only hold me back?
Now gently reach down.
Brush your fingers across the ring.
Let it soften.
Let it break.
Or simply just rub it out completely and let it go.
Now you're free to walk beyond those visible rings,
What's left of them.
And when you do,
Walk beyond them and then just pause for a moment.
And let your attention now move inward.
Start to focus on the parts of you that feel stuck,
Unsure,
Small.
Even when you have no clear reason to feel it.
These are the invisible rings that you're experiencing now.
Subconscious limits formed in childhood,
In hurt,
In moments never fully processed.
They don't speak with words.
They whisper in hesitation,
Tension or silence.
Place your hand over your heart and say to yourself gently,
I am willing to see what I once could not.
Light begins to form around your silhouette in your mind's eye.
A ring of belief,
Once hidden,
Now gently revealed.
Maybe those rings say to you things like,
If I shine,
I'll be left behind.
Or if I rest,
I'll fall behind.
Or if I speak my truth,
I'll be rejected.
Sometimes there's some truth within these words,
Embedded within these invisible rings.
So just take a moment to ask yourself,
Is there truth here I can honour,
Without letting it limit me?
As you breathe,
Imagine the line of circle becoming dotted,
Not erased,
But transformed.
So you're no longer bound by this imaginary ring,
But you can move through it.
Acknowledging the areas that are still relevant and that need to be honoured.
This is what it means to reclaim your freedom.
To honour your past without letting go of all of it,
But holding on to the lessons.
You stand now in a circle of light.
Open on all sides.
Clear.
Spacious.
Strong.
We're now going to use some mantras,
Some affirmations,
To help seal in this shift and to cement the truth within it.
In a moment I'm going to offer you the chance to listen to,
First of all,
The mantra.
And then using your inner voice or speaking out loud,
Repeat it with me the second time I say it.
Okay,
Let's begin.
I am not defined by old beliefs.
I am not defined by old beliefs.
I am free to grow beyond what no longer fits.
I am free to grow beyond what no longer fits.
I choose the thoughts and truths that serve my becoming.
I choose the thoughts and truths that serve my becoming.
I am walking forward with trust.
I am walking forward with trust.
The circle I live in is mine to draw and mine to step beyond.
The circle I live in is mine to draw and mine to step beyond.
Let those words settle into your body.
Let them become part of your truth.
Now let the images of the circle slowly fade and start to bring your awareness back to your breath,
To your body,
To the ground beneath you.
You are here,
You are whole,
You are free.
You may return to this place at any time you feel the walls of old beliefs rising around you.
And remember,
Not every circle is a prison,
But the ones that are,
You can walk beyond.
Gently bring small movements now to your body,
Wiggling your fingers,
Toes,
Moving your shoulders.
And then when you're ready,
Gently flick your eyes open as you return fully to the present.
Namaste.
