Christian devotional.
God's Spirit is humming in our hearts.
Quote by Leslie Anne Warren.
Trust your own instincts.
Go inside.
Follow your heart.
Right from the start,
Go ahead and stand up for what you believe in.
As I've learned,
That's the path to happiness.
Meditation.
Whenever I try to think my way through a situation,
I often become extremely anxious and doubtful.
I imagine many dangers and I project negative images into the future.
When I can tune into my heart,
However,
I begin trusting my inner voice.
I usually find a sense of peace and regain my hopefulness.
When I get in touch with my inner core,
I feel more connected with myself and with others.
And this sense of being connected usually leads to my projecting more hopeful and positive images into the future.
Sometimes,
Though,
I notice that my heart and my head play tug-of-war with each other.
In the morning,
I suddenly might feel very anxious about a hard decision that I have made,
Such as having taken my daughter out of public school and finding a smaller school for her.
Hundreds of buts and what-ifs steal my peace and make me unhappy.
And then,
When I pick up my daughter from the new school in the afternoon and I hear her happily humming a song,
I suddenly feel hopeful and at peace with my heart decision.
Connection and love ground me and give me access to my heart.
In the Bible,
God's love is described as the pouring of God's Spirit into our hearts.
Romans 5.
5.
I imagine God's healing Spirit as humming happily within my heart,
Thus calming me and shifting me out of my anxiety into new hope.
And the Bible verse Romans 5.
5 says,
And hope does not put us to shame because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
I want to say a prayer.
God,
I want to trust my heart and follow your healing Spirit,
But my worrying mind often gets the better of me.
I pray for your humming Spirit to calm my racing thoughts.
I pray for your healing presence to strengthen my heart so that I can learn to trust my instincts and intuition.
Thank you for pouring your love into my heart.
Thus,
I'm hopeful.
Amen.
