So just taking a moment to settle in,
To let the body grow heavy,
To let the mind begin to arrive,
To let this space be just for you.
And finding that comfortable position now,
Whether lying down or seated,
Letting the body rest in its own way,
Drawing your attention to your chest,
Noticing how it rises and falls with each gentle breath,
How comfortably predictable this rhythm may feel to you,
Intentionally noticing that which is automatic to you,
That metronome of life,
Your rhythm,
And how every breath in draws in for you a sense of balance and peace with every inward breath,
And how every breath out pushes away all that you're done with,
With every exhalation,
That breath which is a mechanism of calm,
Of clarity,
How comforting it is,
Just to notice that rhythm without trying to change it in any way,
Just allowing it to be,
Just right,
For now,
That rhythm of you,
And how your attention draws towards your skin,
Letting go of any tension in your forehead,
Your brow,
Your scalp,
The softening of your closed eyelids,
As smoothing down across your cheekbones and jaw,
And as this smoothing sensation flows to the back of your head,
Releasing any tightness,
Any knots of tension now,
And imagining this soothing sensation travelling all the way down through your neck and shoulders,
This smoothing sensation,
A balm of calm radiating across tendons and fibres to allow flow right the way down,
Through your arms and into your hands,
The feeling of soft,
Relaxed skin in your palms and fingers,
And this softening,
This smoothing sensation transcending into your chest and abdomen now,
An easy and welcome feeling of heaviness and comfort,
And I wonder if you can allow this smoothing and softening feeling to travel downwards towards your back,
To release any tension there,
An easy flow,
Radiating across your pelvis and down your spine,
Nourishing,
Balancing,
This smoothing and softening sensation journeying downwards through your thighs,
Those tendons and fibres in your knees and shins,
Before flowing seamlessly into your ankles and feet,
The feeling of soft,
Relaxed skin across the soles of your feet and toes,
And so your body is bathed in this welcome feeling of calm,
Your body which is your vessel for life and how valuable it is for you to nurture,
Your vessel for life right now,
To allow it to rest,
To be peaceful,
To press pause on that which is not necessary right now,
To allow yourself some time just to drift and dream,
Just to daydream,
Because this is how it feels to be at rest,
To be so beautifully at rest,
To drift,
To dream,
To pause,
To be,
And it really is ok just to be,
Not rushing,
Nothing to do,
Nowhere to be,
Nothing you even need to think about right now,
Just to permit yourself to switch onto standby mode so that you can recharge and recalibrate now,
Your mind shifting to brainwave states that are associated with creativity,
Clarity,
Insight,
Solutions now,
And so I'd like to welcome you to imagining you're taking a walk,
To conjure images of ambling across fields upon fields of wild flowers,
Fields perhaps of wild grasses,
Fields perhaps of carefully curated crop,
Blowing in a gentle breeze,
Like the surface of an ocean,
The flower and seed heads bobbing in the surf,
And it's a beautiful day as you stroll,
The expansive skies scattered with patches of delicate white clouds,
Ethereal and light,
And the breeze is welcome across your skin,
And there is a gentle warmth to the air which is just perfect for you,
And you're walking alone,
But you're quite comfortable with that,
Taking some time just to savour,
Just for yourself,
Taking your time,
Noticing,
Intentionally noticing this here and now,
Noticing the skylarks as they soar from the ground,
The buzz of the air alive with pollinators,
The softness of the grass beneath your shoes,
The fragrance of the grasses and wild flowers,
Diverse,
Subtle,
Welcome,
And you can see here as far as the eye can see,
Fields upon fields,
Small hills,
Fields and small hills one after another,
Uninterrupted views,
A patchwork of greens and golds,
And further shades of green,
And you notice it all,
And you feel a freshness and a vitality as you draw into your body all that it needs right now,
The vast sky above you holding you close,
Enveloping you as you feel your body becoming at one with the landscape as you stroll,
A part of this vast nature,
And you're a part of it,
Humbling,
Comforting,
Reassuring,
And with every step you feel more connected to the land,
To the sky,
To yourself,
You breathe it in,
This space,
This freedom,
And you feel a part of this living landscape,
Not separate to it,
But woven into it,
And it's here,
In this quiet reflective wandering,
You feel perspective return again,
A gentle acceptance,
A fresh clarity that stays with you,
That endures long after this walk concludes,
And long after this practice is complete.
