What is it like to be present?
To be here now,
In this breath?
What does it feel like in your body to feel the bottoms of your feet?
To notice the edges of your skin that are exposed to the air?
I'm going to guide you into a practice of awareness.
As I call out different parts of the body,
I invite you to bring your attention there.
You can imagine your thoughts moving to each body part like a gentle rainbow light that dances across the inner walls of your being.
See that rainbow light now,
And let us begin.
Take three long,
Deep breaths.
Allow yourself to settle in,
Feeling the weight of your body on whatever surface supports you.
Feel the weight of your bones and muscles.
Feel the support below you.
Now bring your awareness to the top of your head,
Once again imagining that soft rainbow light.
Breathe in through the crown of your head,
Back of the head,
Left side of the head,
Right side of the head,
Left eyebrow,
Left eyelashes,
Bridge of the nose,
Left nostril,
Right nostril,
Left cheekbone,
Right nostril,
Right side of the jaw,
Right side of the neck,
Left collarbone,
Left pinky finger,
Torso in front of your sternum,
Left psoas muscle,
Resting here.
Between breath and stillness,
Trust that your body knows how to rest,
Your mind knows how to soften.
