Welcome.
My name is Paru.
And today I will be guiding you through this short talk.
The average person takes around 20,
000 breaths a day.
Every single day.
Most of us Rarely pay attention.
To how we breathe.
The way we breathe has a direct impact.
On the mind.
And emotions.
When we feel stressed.
Anxious or overwhelmed.
Are breathing.
Usually becomes Fast.
Short and shallow.
Sometimes we even hold our breath without realizing it.
This sends signals to the brain that we are under pressure.
Keeping the body in a heightened stress state.
The brain uses around 20% of the body's oxygen.
So when breathing becomes inefficient for long periods,
It can affect focus.
Memory,
Decision Making.
And emotional balance.
That's why during stressful situations,
People often struggle to think clearly or suddenly blank out.
The good news is… that breathing is one of the few.
Automatic body functions we can consciously control.
Just a few minutes of slow breathing.
Deep breathing.
Can help calm the nervous system.
And create a sense of safety in the brain.
Research has shown that controlled breathing may help reduce stress hormones like cortisol,
And improve mental clarity.
And emotional regulation.
Our emotions and breathing.
Constantly influence each other.
Fast breathing is commonly linked to stress and fear.
While slower breathing is associated with calmness,
Relaxation.
And feeling grounded.
Even taking 5 slow breaths.
Can help bring the mind back to the present moment.
Let's start with just one deep breath today.
So let's take a deep inhale in.
Hold at the top.
And exhale.
Thank you for spending this time with me.
