Find your way to this moment,
Making any adjustments to be more comfortable.
Give yourself a breath,
Feel the support of the surface beneath you,
Invite your shoulders to relax,
Your arms and hands to be heavy.
Inhale,
Exhale.
Consider something you are moving towards in your life that also brings up some fear.
It could be a simple desire,
A goal.
Notice the sensations you feel in your body.
What you may be becoming aware of is resistance.
We are going to practice being with that resistance rather than turning away.
After all,
Resistance is the body's natural way of protecting our soft edges as we expand.
It is safe to feel.
The resistance simply wants to get our attention so that we can have the conversation about it being safe to expand.
Louise Hay writes,
Resistance is the first step to change.
My friend,
You are only being reminded that you are growing,
Learning,
And changing.
Taking some time here to sit with the sensations of this resistance,
Noticing what's bubbling up.
If it feels right,
Place a hand on your heart and listen.
Perhaps there is something this resistance wants you to know.
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
Now relaxing your arms and hands.
What are you aware of now?
Maybe a shift,
Even a subtle shift in those sensations.
Become aware of any softening,
Ease,
Settling.
We can let the resistance know it is safe to expand.
Breathing in and letting go.
Even if you didn't get a message from the resistance,
You get to know that it is safe.
Taking the time to sit with resistance reminds us that we are human,
We are moving towards something meaningful to us.
Resistance is only a step towards change and it is nothing to judge or fear.
Inhale,
Exhale.
Know that you can always turn towards resistance and find your way back to stillness,
For you are safe,
You are growing,
You are expanding.
Finding a little movement in your body as you begin to make your way gently back into the room.
Giving yourself another breath.
Once again feeling the support of the surface beneath you,
From my heart to yours.
