Upon waking, we can quickly begin to take in the world around us without considering how we’d like to move forward. This meditation will help you ease slowly and mindfully into the day ahead. In the stillness we create together, you will spend some time gently directing the filter of your brain to show you more of what you’re longing for as you imagine the day unfolding. Good morning,

Welcome to this new day.

Be gentle with yourself as you find your way to this moment.

Rest into the support beneath you,

Allowing yourself to just be here.

It can feel like we're waking up to an explosion of sensory information after being in an otherworldly altered state while we sleep.

If it feels right,

Allow your eyes to close and spend some time sitting with the information coming from within.

Feeling your body breathe.

Let yourself be here now,

Before the busyness of the day.

The human brain processes about 11 million bits of information per second through our senses.

Our brain's filtering system chooses what to prioritize,

What's relevant,

And what carries emotional significance.

Only about 40-50 bits per second makes it into our conscious awareness,

Or 0.

0004%.

James Clear writes,

Focus is the art of knowing what to ignore.

Your brain is exquisitely designed to support you,

And you can help that process by deciding what to focus on,

Essentially training the filter of your brain.

Starting in this moment,

Let yourself be slow.

What have you been longing for lately?

Maybe you want to feel more love,

Simply notice what comes forward and know that you can welcome those qualities into your day.

Consider the day ahead of you.

How might what you are longing for show up today?

Let yourself play in the magic of possibility.

Your brain is right here,

Paying attention to this direction.

Give yourself a breath,

Knowing that the good will find its way to you.

Notice the space around your body,

Inviting it to open up and welcome in what's good.

Take your sweet time here,

Coming back into the room,

Gently beginning to take in some of the information,

And as you look around,

Notice what you are grateful for.

This gentle awareness can be brought with you into the rest of your day,

Pausing for a quiet moment,

Giving yourself a breath,

Slowing down.

You've opened yourself up to so many new possibilities for this day and helped train the filter of your mind.

More good will be shown to you.

Gently begin to move into this day with an open heart,

And know that your brain is on your side.

Inhale more of what you need.

Exhale,

Filter out the rest.

Go gently into this day,

After waking up and having several phone calls back to back, I was pleased to come upon this meditation and basically restart my day from a much more grounded, relaxed, grateful and intentional way. my relaxation started the moment Marybeth started speaking.
