I'm Rachel New,

A dating and relationships coach in the UK.

This meditation uses visualisation and affirmations to help your body feel safe and calm as you prepare for your date.

I want you to feel good about yourself and completely at ease.

So,

Make yourself comfortable,

Close your eyes if you want to,

And let's begin.

Imagine yourself calmly getting ready for your date.

As you check yourself in the mirror,

You are accepting of yourself just as you are.

You don't need to compare yourself to others or measure up to any artificial standards.

You are most attractive when you are truly yourself,

Happy and accepting of yourself exactly as you are.

Take a moment to feel this in your body.

Breathe in calm,

Breathe out acceptance.

You feel kind and generous towards yourself.

You respect yourself.

You like yourself.

You don't have to be perfect for others to respect and like you.

Allow yourself a little smile and notice the reassuring warming effect on your body.

You collect your wallet,

Keys and phone and prepare to leave.

You walk down the street,

A bounce in your step.

You wave to a neighbour and smile at a child in a pushchair.

You feel the sun shining on your skin.

You are safely connected to the world.

You feel a sense of curiosity about your date.

You go over some of the questions you want to ask.

A sense of anticipation is bubbling gently as you imagine laughing together and feeling the warmth of connection with a fellow human being.

You know you have much to bring to the date and look forward to learning from them.

You don't need to prove yourself and it's ok if you make some mistakes.

You are relaxed and happy in your own skin.

You accept your differences and challenges as much as your strengths and quirks.

You are a unique tapestry of all that makes you,

You.

You feel tolerant and generous towards your date and their unique tapestry.

You deserve to be treated well and so does your date.

You are confident of your boundaries and non-negotiables.

You know what you need.

You have the humility to listen and learn from your date,

To step into their world without judgement.

The date is an exploration of common ground and a step into new territory.

There is great value in meeting a new person no matter what the outcome.
