Hello and welcome to today's episode of the Female Stoic Podcast.
Today's episode is entitled Learning to Embrace the Stupid.
And this is confidence building for the over-anxious.
Some of us like me.
Are only just beginning.
Having spent the last 20 to 25 years growing a family,
We are now just ready to start focusing on ourselves.
We as Generation X are fight or flight.
We are the most times,
From my experience,
The product of irresponsible parents who have programmed our minds to run at a certain speed in order to survive.
It is imperative then we learn to reprogram our minds so that we can let go of that reactivity.
This is difficult.
Learning a new way to be is very difficult.
Some of us are tired,
Some of us feel that we have done our running,
We've done our fighting and Now we're ready to relax.
But there is also this nagging feeling inside that There's something we owe ourselves.
We're refusing to give up because we haven't realized that which we lost when we were busy chasing our tail,
Trying to recoup.
Our losses trying to catch up with the person who We have yet to realize our higher self.
In the 21st century there's this pandemic of trolling on the internet.
We cannot be wrong.
The worst thing we can do is be wrong.
It is actually seen as worse to be wrong than evil.
I must be right,
We tell ourselves,
At any cost,
Even at the cost of my own principles.
I must be seen to be right.
And now we are getting to the point where we are saying What do I actually think?
Who am I?
I have a little bit of time,
But.
.
.
I am willing to be wrong in order to.
.
.
Realize my higher self in order to understand who I am,
But surely this is ridiculous.
The idea is for me to be right.
I should know by now.
I'm old enough to know by now.
And what today's lesson is about is about accepting that maybe.
.
.
We don't know yet.
Maybe.
There are many things that we have yet to learn.
Today's lesson is about embracing the stupid.
And is it such a bad thing to be stupid,
To be ignorant,
To not know?
What is wrong with putting up your hand and saying,
I need to learn?
I'm unsure.
The ability to do this comes with confidence and confidence comes paradoxically from doing just that.
Stepping outside of our comfort zone and saying,
Guess what?
I don't know it all after all.
Many times in this situation we are in at the moment,
There's a blame mentality.
There's an attack the person who thinks That's.
.
.
They're right when actually they're wrong mentality.
But.
.
.
What I'm here today to say is.
.
.
Ask the stupid questions.
Be proud of the fact you don't know something.
Because that is how we learn.
As Stoics,
We know that it is our responsibility to take management of and protect our inner virtue and honour our higher self.
And how do we do that?
We do that through asking the stupid questions,
Through understanding we are inherently stupid.
We can never know enough.
It is time for us to go back to basics as though we are a child.
Read the children's books.
Listen to the stories.
And at that point,
Gain an understanding of what we know and what we don't know,
Except.
.
.
What we don't know.
It is easy to have an assumption that we are a particular age,
Therefore we should know.
But especially as women when we have spent so much time investing in the well-being and knowledge of others.
We have got lost along the way.
So today is your call to set an intention.
I intend to find out.
I intend to ignore the judgment.
I intend to put up my hand when I don't know.
I intend to reward the stupid.
If we learn to ask the questions,
We are empowering ourselves to do that.
More of the same.
And as a by-product other people will become Amazed at this newfound confidence.
Now obviously,
Their opinions are external to us.
But.
.
.
It does mean that we are then treated differently.
And this is all about how we are coming to the world,
How we are honoring our higher self.
So repeat after me.
I will never know enough.
I am willing to learn every day.
My vulnerability is my superpower.
You can't scare me.
Any more than I can scare myself.
Therefore I know it is within my power to ask the stupid questions.
