Here is a very simple Qigong meditation,
Clearing your energy.
Firstly,
Sit or stand comfortably.
If sitting,
Sit towards the edge of the seat,
So that your back is fairly straight.
Relax with your hands in your lap,
Palms facing up.
If standing,
Stand shoulder-width apart,
Toes pointing forward,
Knees slightly unlocked,
Hands resting by the sides.
Begin with eyes open,
Gazing into the distance to an imaginary horizon.
Slowly pull your vision back and gently close the eyes.
See the horizon inside.
Initially,
Take a deep breath in through nose and out through mouth to clear the lungs.
Deeply in and gently out.
Now we are going to breathe in through nose and out through nose,
With our mind gently on our lower belly.
If you can do diaphragm breathing and can breathe low and slow,
All the better.
If not,
Keep the mind on the lower belly,
Which is called the dantian,
Our energy center,
Where we store our qi.
So let's begin.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through nose,
All the way in,
With mind on lower belly.
Pause briefly at the top,
Hold the breath,
And then gently breathe out through the nose all the way.
Pause briefly between breaths and repeat this cycle,
Gently breathing in through nose with mind on lower belly,
Holding when full just briefly,
And then breathing out slowly,
And again holding briefly before we repeat.
Do this for a couple of minutes,
And this will recharge your energy in a very simple and easy way.
You can use this before you start your day,
Or at the end of the day.
