So we are on day 14.

Thanksgiving is like a little over a week away.

I am super excited.

I love Thanksgiving.

It's probably my favorite holiday because there's so much food and I am a foodie.

I love food.

My grandmother used to tell me,

You don't eat to live.

No wait,

No.

She would say,

Alexis,

You don't live to eat,

You eat to live.

And it was just her way of reminding me to be grateful and mindful of the foods that I consume.

It's not just about stuffing my face.

Although I still struggle with that,

But still,

It's not just about stuffing my face.

It's about being grateful for the food that we have and the experiences that we have in the kitchen and with our loved ones when we're cooking.

Food does so much more for us than we allow ourselves to remember or be mindful of.

So what it does for us is it nourishes our body.

It brings us joy.

It brings health,

Especially if we're eating something that we really enjoy.

It helps us to even create stronger bonds with our loved ones and our friends and our families and even strangers.

And so when we think about the things in life that we do,

Like we breathe,

We eat,

We drink water,

Right?

We do those things so naturally that we forget to be grateful for those moments and for the things that actually help us and fuel our bodies and help us to continue to live and do the things that we enjoy.

So today's journal prompt is about listing your favorite meals and the foods that you enjoy eating and what you love to cook,

But then taking it a step forward and further and saying,

I'm grateful for these foods because it brings me joy or brings me health or like it nourishes my body,

Whatever it may be.

Don't just think of it as,

Oh I just love the way it tastes like I do.

Think of it more about how it adds to your life,

What it does for you,

Why you're grateful for it,

Whether you're grateful for the experience of eating or whether you're grateful just for the taste of food or the food bringing you together with your loved ones,

Whatever it may be.

Have fun with this journal prompt.

List out your favorite foods,

Meals,

And then one or two reasons why you're grateful for those things.

And I will see you in the next video.
