Welcome to this moment of connection and care for your body.
Whatever brought you here to this practice today,
Know that this time is yours.
A space where there's nothing you need to fix or change.
Only an opportunity to notice,
To breathe,
And to be present for yourself,
In a way that supports your well-being and feels right for you.
This is a good time to find a comfortable position,
Whether that's sitting or lying down,
And to simply spend a few moments noticing how your body feels.
How does it feel to be in your body today?
There's no right or wrong,
No need to change anything.
Just gently showing up and listening,
The way you would for a friend,
With a sense of openness and acceptance for whatever is present.
And when you're ready,
You might enjoy a slow,
Deep inhale,
Feeling the air as it moves through your nose and into your lungs,
Expanding your ribcage,
And a long,
Slow exhale,
Allowing any tension to sink down through the body and into the earth.
Another deep inhale here,
And a long,
Slow exhale.
And then you can continue breathing deeply,
Or let your body breathe in its natural rhythm.
Noticing how your body instinctively knows how to breathe,
How to nourish you with each inhale and soothe you with each exhale.
This rhythm has been with you since the beginning,
Steady and reliable,
Carrying you through every experience.
This time is about fostering a connection with and appreciation for your body exactly as it is.
Your body has been with you through every moment of your life,
Through joy,
Struggle,
Through growth and change,
And it's easy to overlook all that it does,
But this is an opportunity to reconnect with your body and acknowledge its presence and efforts for you.
And you might explore bringing awareness to your feet.
Your feet have carried you through many phases of life,
Supported countless steps,
And brought you to meaningful moments.
Consider all that they've offered,
Whether walking through nature,
Bringing you to meet with loved ones.
Even when your feet are tired or achy,
They keep showing up for you.
So if it feels right,
You might offer your feet some gentle gratitude.
Thank you feet for carrying me through life.
Thank you for bringing me to this moment through all the many steps I've taken.
And turning attention to your hands,
Reflecting on all your hands have done for you.
They've created,
Cared for your needs,
Noticing how they've been tools of connection,
Of expression,
Helping you live and engage with the world.
Thank you hands for creating,
For caring,
For connecting.
Thank you for all you do every day.
And maybe letting your awareness rest on your heart for a moment.
Maybe noticing its steady rhythm,
Tirelessly sustaining your life.
Your heart beats without needing your direction,
Offering you a quiet,
Dependable presence you can trust.
Thank you heart for your steady rhythm and support.
Thank you for guiding me and helping me navigate life.
And pausing anywhere else in the body where it feels right for you,
Expressing thanks to any part you feel called to acknowledge.
Your body allows you to experience so much of life,
The warmth of sunlight,
The sound of laughter,
The feeling of being held.
Even in its imperfection,
It gives you access to life's richness.
So it is one thing your body has done for you today that you are grateful for.
One thing your body has allowed you to experience.
Just letting this be a moment of quiet appreciation just between you and your body.
Each body is unique,
Shaped by experiences,
Genetics,
And life's journey.
There is no one right way for a body to look or feel.
What makes your body uniquely yours?
Sometimes we carry judgments about certain parts of our body,
Areas we may wish looked or felt different.
Is there a part of your body that you tend to judge?
Just taking a few moments to gently explore this question.
Is there a part of the body that often becomes the focus of critical thoughts?
Maybe it's an area that holds tension,
Or one that you've wanted to change.
If nothing comes to mind,
That's okay too.
Simply stay open to what arises.
And when you feel ready,
Just letting yourself bring this part of your body into your awareness.
Like you're shining a soft light on it.
Listening to it.
Offering it your presence.
What would it feel like to set judgment aside,
Even for a few moments?
And instead of criticism,
How would it feel to offer this part of your body love,
Compassion,
And gratitude?
What do you need in this moment to embrace your body for all that it is?
It's strength,
It's imperfections,
It's resilience.
Maybe you need a little extra compassion,
A little extra courage.
Just take a few moments to invite whatever you need in this moment,
So you can give the gift of acceptance to your body.
And if it resonates,
You might join me in some gentle affirmations to help guide you towards loving acceptance of your body.
I am grateful for my body just as it is.
My body works hard to support me every day.
I choose to treat my body with kindness and respect.
My body deserves care and compassion even on difficult days.
I trust and appreciate my body more each day.
My body is my ally through every phase of life.
Every cell in my body is working for me.
I honor the wisdom and signals my body gives me.
I deserve to feel safe and at home in my body.
I release judgment and choose compassion for my body.
And if it feels right for you,
You might place one or both hands gently over your heart,
Feeling the warmth of your touch and the steady rhythm of your heartbeat.
And as you breathe naturally,
You might silently give yourself these words.
I am safe.
I am here for myself.
I am exactly where I need to be.
Noticing how your body feels in response to this act of care.
And maybe noticing how your relationship with your body grows just a little bit stronger with each moment of care and attention.
When difficult days come,
Consider how it feels to stand by your body as its ally,
Offering it rest,
Nourishment,
Or gentle movement.
These little acts of kindness create a deeper connection with yourself.
It's natural to feel frustration with your body.
Maybe you wish your body had more energy or less pain or discomfort.
But sensations and feelings,
Whether they're aches,
Pains,
Tension,
Are your body's way of communicating with you,
Offering you signals about what you need.
These messages might be asking for care,
For patience,
For attention.
Your body is doing its best even in the face of difficult moments.
Challenges are part of being human,
And your body meets them with its own quiet resilience.
So how is your body communicating with you today?
What does it need you to hear or know?
Just pausing here for a few moments to truly listen to what your body has to say to you.
And respond without judgment,
But with compassion and curiosity.
There's no need to rush this process.
Befriending your body is a practice that evolves over time.
It doesn't require perfection,
Just a willingness to approach yourself with curiosity and care.
Every little moment of appreciation,
Every deep breath you offer your body,
Every quiet word of support and care,
Strengthens your connection between your mind and your body.
So as we reach the end of this practice,
Remember that your body deserves your kindness.
Your body is your constant ally in each and every day,
In the ups and the downs.
And the more we listen to the body,
The more we can hear its wisdom and direction for our lives.
So when you're ready,
You can begin gently bringing your awareness back into the room.
Becoming aware of the space around you.
Gently wiggling your fingers and toes,
And then gently open your eyes.
As you move into the rest of your day or evening,
Consider carrying this sense of gratitude with you for this beautiful body that allows you to experience the many gifts and joys of life.
Take care,
And I'll see you again soon.
