Find a comfortable position,
Sitting or lying down.
Let your shoulders drop and your hands rest gently.
If it feels right,
Close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Take a deep breath in through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth.
Feel your body begin to settle.
You've arrived.
There is nowhere else to be now.
With your attention on your breath,
Let it flow naturally.
Inhale and exhale.
Let your awareness follow the rise and fall of each breath.
Feel the weight of your body supported by the ground.
Feel the contact of your clothing,
The temperature of the air.
The stillness around you.
This is your moment to pause,
To breathe,
To feel,
To reconnect.
Let's take a moment and listen to three sounds of the bell while you connect to your breathing.
Now gently bring to mind the feeling of disconnection from your child.
You might remember a recent moment,
A missed opportunity,
A harsh word,
A silence,
Or just the aching sense of distance.
Notice how this feels in your body.
Is there tightness,
Heaviness,
Numbness?
Whatever is present,
Greet it with kindness.
Noticing disconnection is here.
This is hard.
And I am here with it.
There is no need to judge it or fix it.
Just acknowledge it with gentle honesty.
In this moment,
See if you can speak kindly to yourself with words like these.
I am doing my best.
Parenting is complex and I won't always get it right.
This moment of struggle does not define my love.
Take a breath into that space.
Let the exhale soften your chest,
Your jaw,
Your shoulders.
You are not alone in this.
All parents know this feeling in some form or another.
It is here.
Breathing in… Feeling the disconnection… Breathing out… Embracing it like a crying child… In… Feeling… Out… Embracing… Breathing in… Seeing that disconnection is a part of love… Breathing out… Knowing I still care deeply… In… Seeing… Out… Knowing… Breathing in… Feeling… Choosing to not blame myself… Breathing out… Trusting the bond between us is still there… In… Forgive… Out… Trust… Breathing in… Seeing my child as they are right now… Breathing out… Smiling to them in my heart… In… Seeing… Out… Smiling… Breathing in… Sending them my calm energy… Breathing out… Saying… I'm here for you… In… Sending calm… Out… I'm here for you… In… Breathing in… Releasing expectations… Breathing out… Opening my heart to love as it is… In… Releasing… Out… Opening… I'm here for you… Breathing in… Remembering a moment of warmth between us… Breathing out… Letting it nourish me… In… Remembering… Out… Nourishing… In… Breathing in… Trusting that love can be renewed… Breathing out… Offering presence,
Not perfection… In… Trust… Out… Presence… In… Breathing in… Vowing to listen with love… Breathing out… Vowing to speak with kindness… In… Listening… Out… Presence… Kindness… Letting your breath anchor you in this very moment… This is where reconnection begins… Not in the past… Not in imagined futures… But here… With this breath… And with this awareness… With this open heart… You are not broken… You are growing… And you're allowed to begin again… Now… And again later… And as many times as needed… Breathing in… Holding space for myself and for my child… Breathing out… Meeting myself and my child with curiosity,
Patience,
And love… In… Holding space… Out… Reconnecting… The flower of love is still here… I water it with my breath… I offer it the sunshine of my presence… And the quiet rain of my understanding… Gently wiggle your fingers and toes… Open your eyes when you're ready… And carry this quiet presence with you one moment at a time… Let yourself sit in stillness for a moment… You can place your hand over your heart and breathe slowly… When you're ready,
You might choose a small,
Gentle action today… That expresses your love… A kind word… A touch… Or simply looking your child in the eyes and smiling…
