This meditation focuses on the first chakra, the root chakra. It was created to ground you and root you down, creating safety and security within you, so you can have space to heal. The root chakra is our centre for feeling safe and bonded with our roots so we can stay calm in the storm of challenges coming our way. This is the first meditation of the chakra series.

Welcome to today's root chakra meditation.

My name is Leila and I will guide you today.

The root chakra or muladhara chakra is our first chakra of the seven chakras.

It serves as a support for all the other energy centers.

It is responsible for being grounded,

Supported,

Safe and secure.

If you have been struggling with any type of lack of support,

Lack of safety,

May that be financial,

Physical or mental,

It might be that your root chakra is out of balance.

Before we start just take a comfortable seat.

You can even lay down if that feels more aligned with you today.

And let's just call all our senses back into our body and start to focus on your breath first.

If you get distracted,

Always just find back to the breath.

Don't have any expectations.

Just go with whatever feels right for you.

Focus on your breath and feel how your chest is rising and just feel how the air is leaving your body through your nostrils.

Just breathe in your natural rhythm and breath.

Start to relax your forehead,

Your jaw,

Drop your shoulders.

Relax your chest,

Your tummy,

Your pelvis,

Your hips,

Your right thigh,

Right knee and right chin,

Right foot and toes and your left thigh,

Left knee and left chin,

Left foot and toes.

And just feel how you're sinking deeper into your seat.

Now feel the support under your body.

Feel how the earth is holding you and feel how you can safely relax into it.

And I'll ask you to slowly start to focus on your root chakra,

The first chakra,

So the bottom of your spine.

And just see how the color red starts to flicker through.

And see how it's growing bigger and bigger.

It's all around your pelvis,

Your hip area,

All around your lower back.

And feel how much support it is giving you,

How it is a safe ground to relax into it.

Maybe you can start to open up and heal wherever you need to feel secure and safe.

When did you stop feeling safe?

When did you start feeling like you are restless,

Like you're disconnected from your body,

From your roots?

You can start to imagine starting to grow roots,

Roots that will help you to stay stable even through the biggest wind,

The biggest storm.

You will always stay safe in the ground if you have roots.

It doesn't mean that you can't be free and that you can't live the way you want to live.

These roots are there when you want to feel connected,

When you want to feel safe,

When you need some security in your life,

Some reassurance that you are supported.

You feel supported in your life.

If not,

Is there anything you can do about it?

Can you ask for help?

Can you start to reconnect with yourself,

With your roots?

What do you need to feel safe?

Imagine how this red light is starting to spread in your body,

Washing away the insecurities,

Washing away all the reasons why you're afraid to ground yourself and connect with your roots and stay put for a second.

Washing away everything,

All the reasons why you think you can't rest because resting might not feel safe.

I just want you to imagine that this red light is giving you the security and safety you've been yearning for and you can finally relax into this energy of safety.

You might feel that your muscles start to release,

That they start to let go.

Because all the tension of fighting against not feeling safe is finally leaving your body.

If anything comes up that you know you have to do to balance this chakram or just invited in,

Accept it and see what you need to take this next step.

Without support and safety,

We can't start to heal other parts of our bodies.

We need a safe space to know that we are supported,

To feel that we are allowed to let go of all the hurt and all the pain that we experienced.

So just relax into this feeling of safety and let it heal you.

And once this red light removed everything from your body that you think was holding you back from feeling the support,

Just imagine it taking a seat back at the bottom of your spine and just know that whenever you need support,

Whenever you need to feel rooted and grounded,

You can always connect to this chakra.

You can always visualize your roots helping you ground,

Helping you stay stable in the wind and the storm that's around you.

You can always go and connect with nature,

Connect through your feet so you don't have to feel unsafe again.

If you feel like everything has been removed from your body or you feel like you're grounded enough,

You're rooted enough,

Then find back to your body again.

Stand back to the room again.

You can start to wiggle your toes,

Your hands,

Your fingers.

Start to bring in some movement.

And whenever you're ready,

Just come back to your room and open your eyes.
