Have you ever repeated affirmations over and over like,
I am abundant,
I am confident,
But deep down,
They just felt really fake?
And worse yet,
You feel frustrated because they're not working or they don't stick.
If you're a highly sensitive person,
You are more than likely very emotionally intelligent.
And sometimes affirmations just may not work the way that they do for other people.
I'm going to explain that in this episode and I'm going to show you how you can make affirmations work for your unique emotional depth.

For many highly sensitive people,
You are also very emotionally intelligent.
We crave emotional depth,
Depth within ourselves,
Depth within our relationships,
And we're generally very honest people.
So generic affirmations like I am successful,
I am abundant,
Whatever you might be repeating over and over and over to yourself,
Feel fake.
It feels like we're ignoring what's real or what's happening right now within us.
So instead of feeling empowered with affirmations,
Sometimes it can backfire and we actually feel more frustrated or shame might get triggered because we're not understanding why isn't this working?
First of all,
You are not broken at all.
And the affirmations just might need a little bit of tweaking in order for them to work for you.
You may need a more compassionate or I think nuanced approach in where you are truly at now and where you would like to be on your healing journey.
So I'm going to explain two really simple ways that you can just tweak those affirmations that you've been saying in order to produce the result that you are declaring from the affirmation.
And stick around to the very end.
I'm going to give a little bonus to the second tip that I'm going to provide that I really think can help shift that energy within you to go from a lower vibrational state to a higher.
So let's start with tip number one.
This is actually very simple.
And it came up recently in a client session.
She was telling me that she was repeating this affirmation of,
I am secure.
I am secure over and over and over.
And she couldn't figure out.
She was like,
I just,
I don't even feel that.
And I said,
Well,
Do you use the word secure in your everyday vocabulary?
And she thought about it.
And she's like,
No,
Actually,
I don't.
That's not a word that comes really natural to me.
And I thought,
Well,
Let's start there.
So that's my first tip.
Use words that feel natural and authentic to you.
So yes,
You could maybe borrow an affirmation from someone,
Even a meditation like the ones I have on my channel,
And kind of try it on like a pair of new clothes.
But if it doesn't quite fit,
Just change it up.
And it can be just a very small change.
So for example,
For my client,
Instead of saying,
I am secure,
Because secure wasn't a word that she used very often.
She said,
I really feel like I can resonate with the word grounded.
And she said,
Grounded like the earth,
Because she has a more poetic language and wanted to add that nuanced like the earth in there.
So her affirmation became,
I am grounded like the earth.
And I could just feel her settle into that affirmation.
So that's my first tip.
Simply use words that you are going to use in your own everyday language.
And if you have your own little flair to it,
Like if you want to add a like statement,
Like like the earth,
Add that into it.
Second tip is a little bit more involved.
So let me explain.
I look at words that we use as energy,
Everything is energy,
But especially the words that whether we say them to ourselves,
Or whether we say them out loud,
Like in affirmations.
So words exist on an energetic scale.
So think of a ladder.
Sometimes this is even referred to as a vibrational ladder,
Where the lower frequency words such as fear and shame are at the bottom of the ladder.
And at the top of the ladder,
We have those higher frequency words and emotions like love and joy.
Oftentimes,
We try to leap from the bottom of the ladder to the top of the ladder without really working in that really,
I think,
Important middle of the ladder.
This could be emotionally bypassing.
So what we want to do is just go one step up the ladder,
Instead of leaping,
And then falling into frustration,
And maybe even shame because it didn't work for us.
So for example,
Let's take a popular affirmation of I am abundant,
That seems to be a really common one right now.
And if you're saying I am abundant,
I am abundant,
But you don't necessarily feel that abundant within you,
Then first of all,
We need to acknowledge and be aware of what we do feel in that moment without judgment.
I think that's the key word,
Without judgment.
So I'll start with I am aware of,
And it could be something like this.
I am aware of feeling scarcity,
And that's okay.
So I'm not leaping all the way up to I feel abundant.
And although initially,
I thought,
Well,
That doesn't feel like enough.
But really,
If we don't acknowledge the current feelings that we have,
We're not going to get to those higher frequencies as quickly as we might think.
So start where you're at.
I am aware of,
And name it for yourself.
And then after say,
And that's okay.
Or,
And I accept this,
Just as I am.
So that's the first step up.
Now,
We don't obviously want to stay there.
But when that settles within your nervous system,
Then the next step up this vibrational ladder would be a statement of,
I am open to.
So I am open to feeling abundant.
You're open to it.
You acknowledge that there is potential there.
And you can word that in whatever way you would like.
But being open to the possibility of that highest frequency of words on the ladder,
The top of the ladder.
And then shifting from there,
We're moving into learning or on the pathway to.
So I am learning to be more abundant in my life,
Or I'm learning to see abundance in my life.
You could also use the word path.
I am on the path to being abundant right now.
And so you can see how these incrementally move that energy up the ladder.
Now,
Don't be surprised if sometimes you have to take one step down the ladder,
But just know that's how healing journeys usually are.
It's not always a usual straight shot up from bottom to top in one fell swoop.
There's usually steps along the way.
And yes,
Depending on the day,
Sometimes it might be a slight step down,
But just know that that highest frequency that I am abundant is always there for you.
And as you incrementally move up the ladder,
You'll be surprised at how your nervous system and your emotional depth settles into that new set point.
And it becomes easy,
Easier at least to move up vibrationally to the top of the ladder,
Whatever goal or whatever affirmation you are looking to embody within yourself,
Which leads me to the bonus off of this second tip.
One of the most powerful ways you can accentuate your affirmations is to literally embody the emotion that you are looking to as your outcome.
So if we use the example of abundance,
For a long time,
What I would do is as I was saying my affirmations,
No matter where I was on that vibrational ladder,
I would stand up,
My feet were nice and wide in a wide stance with my arms stretched out,
And I would even look up and I would feel all that space,
The abundance of space around me.
I'd feel my heart being open and I would say my abundance affirmations out loud.
So I'm asking you,
What would it feel like in your body to be that particular affirmation?
That's really important.
And that will help to shift that energy from that lower rung on the vibrational ladder to a higher rung a little more quickly.
So what is it for you?
What is the affirmation that you may need to tweak a little bit,
Just change up some of the words in there?
And where on that vibrational ladder can you hold sacred space for?
Knowing that it is perfect just as it is right now.
We don't need to force ourselves up the ladder feeling like we have to be dragged up there.
We will come to a higher frequency in our words,
In our being at the exact perfect timing that we need to.
No pressure,
No frustration,
And absolutely no shame.
And then how will you embody it?
How will you take that newly formed affirmation and allow your body to feel that power to shift the energy?
