Hey,
Can I tell you something that took me a really long time to understand?
Rest is not wasted time.
I know you've been taught the opposite,
That rest is something you earn,
That you rest after you've done enough,
That rest is a reward not a necessity.
I noticed for myself when I was really in the efficiency mode where everything I've done needed to be efficient and productive and I thought about watching a movie or spending time with friends or just reading a book that has nothing to do with self-development or productivity was just wasted time and it took me a long time to learn that this is the most inefficient thing that you can do because getting your mind off work,
Getting your mind of things and just being in the moment and enjoying life,
Enjoying the present moment is truly the gift and gives you energy,
Gives you joy,
Gives you the truth of who you are so that afterwards you can be so much more productive and efficient and filled with purpose and energy.
That way of thinking that we need to be efficient keeps us constantly pushing and honestly a tired body doesn't create better results,
A tired mind doesn't make clearer decisions,
A nervous system that never rests can't actually hold success.
Rest isn't quitting,
Rest isn't giving up,
Rest isn't falling behind,
Rest is part of the process.
It's the moment where your system integrates,
Where your body resets,
Where your mind gets space again.
Sometimes stress looks like lying down,
Sometimes it looks like doing nothing,
Sometimes it looks like saying not today without explaining yourself and that doesn't make you less committed to your life.
It actually makes you more available for it because when you rest you don't lose momentum,
You rebuild it,
You don't stop moving forward,
You make space to move forward with more clarity.
So if today your body is asking for rest,
For slowness,
For softness,
Then listen,
That is productive.
Not in a loud and visible way but in a way that actually sustains you.
You don't need to push today,
You don't need to prove anything.
Rest is not the opposite of progress,
It is part of it.
