Today we're going to be meditating on a quote by Joseph Addison.

The grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do,

Something to love,

And something to hope for.

With that in mind,

Sit up straight or lie down gently.

Take a deep cleansing breath in,

Blow it out,

And begin to relax.

Breathe and just sink into your body.

Use this time to relax and settle into the quiet and calm of your body.

To help quiet your mind and calm negative thoughts,

Call to mind something in your life,

Something simple that you do that brings you a sense of enjoyment.

Next,

Call to mind someone that you love.

Whether they are currently in your life or not,

Call them to mind now,

And let yourself feel those wonderfully loving feelings as you think about this person.

Good.

Next,

Call to mind something that you love,

Something simple.

For example,

Coffee in the morning or the leaves changing color in autumn or the first fresh snow of winter.

Wonderful.

And finally,

Call to mind one small thing that you hope for.

Wonderful.

Just allow a gentle smile on your face as you open your eyes.

Coming fully back into the room now,

Aware and awake and ready to move on to a better day.
