Welcome to the Best Life University podcast.
I'm Dr.
Lynn Brown,
A counselor and educator.
In this podcast,
I discuss a myriad of topics related to the five dimensions of personal growth,
Mental,
Social,
Spiritual,
Emotional,
And physical.
Thank you so much for listening.
Today's topic is responsibility.
It's up to you.
Being your own guide starts with taking responsibility for your own life.
So often it seems easier to blame others for our unhappiness,
But that's an attempt at putting the responsibility on someone else's shoulders.
Being responsible for yourself is a role you can't avoid.
Blaming others is only a way of handling it.
Until you assume an active role in your search for happiness,
You won't be moving closer toward your goal.
By believing you are responsible for yourself,
You become in charge.
This means you have the power to change your life.
We avoid growth because it is difficult for most of us to admit that there are aspects of ourselves we want to change.
We would rather tackle the impossible task of changing the world than take on the responsibility of dealing what we can change,
That is,
Ourselves.
It seems safer to remain unhappy than take the risk of changing and exploring new possibilities.
You may be unhappy,
But you know where you stand.
By growing and believing you are your own guide,
You are running the risk of not knowing what the future holds.
But the possibilities are exciting,
Especially when you know it is up to you to decide which are best for you.
