This Heart Chakra meditation uses visualisation and affirmations to promote a sense of self-acceptance. Influences are also taken from the Loving Kindness (Metta) meditation where we bring to mind someone who loves us dearly.

Welcome to this meditation for self-acceptance,

Come and sit in any comfortable position,

Stack in the shoulders above the hips,

Reach tall through the crown of the head,

Take a big breath in through the nose,

Pause at the top,

Bring a little smile to the lips and exhale sigh out of the mouth and either with the eyes open or closed,

Bring the attention to the breath where you feel it enter through the nostrils.

And keeping this gentle focus on the breath following it all the way down through the heart center to the belly and keeping this gentle attention on the breath repeating our intention,

I love and accept myself just as I am.

I love and accept myself just as I am.

And now bring to mind someone who loves you very much,

This can be a person,

An animal but feel the love radiating from that person or animal to you.

Allow the love to fill your heart space,

Spreading through the entire body.

And as we scan the body visualize each body part being filled with love and acceptance as you hear its name.

Become aware of the inside of your mouth,

The tip of the tongue,

The roof of the mouth,

The throat center,

The heart center.

Feel the love radiating into both shoulders,

Elbows,

The wrists,

The palms of both hands,

The thumbs,

First fingers,

Second,

Third and fourth fingers.

Feel this love and acceptance in the heart center,

The belly,

The hips,

The thighs,

Knees,

Ankles and feet.

Feel a sense of love and acceptance through both arms,

Both legs,

The whole of the back body.

The whole of the front body,

The whole body together filled with love and acceptance.

And bring your attention back to the breath,

The natural breath flowing easily through the whole body.

And then silently saying to yourself I love and accept myself just as I am.

I love and accept myself just as I am.

Take a big breath in,

Pausing at the top,

Bringing a little smile to the lips and exhaling sighing it out.

Slowly blinking the eyes open if they were closed and continuing into your day with love and acceptance.
