In this resiliency-building practice, together, we ground, root, and presence ourselves, just like trees, extending our roots and growing our crown, so we can embrace both sun and wind. It is a practice aiming to build resiliency.

For the next few minutes we will be practicing together.

So let's see what it's like to find a position that's at the same time comfortable and dignified for the body.

Maybe sitting up straight if that's available.

Legs might be crossed or stretched.

Being listening and compassionate to what the body needs.

Once we have found that position we will now embark on a journey together of rooting,

Grounding and presencing ourselves.

Maybe just like a tree.

A tree that can root itself strongly.

The face of the wind and of adversities so that it can be ultimately more resilient.

Let's start our journey bringing attention and care to the base of our body.

The roots of the tree.

Maybe sensing our own very feet.

The soles of our feet.

And imagining the roots are growing and extending into the earth.

Imagining a sense of strength in our feet and then up into our legs.

Remaining with our legs and feet that sense of roots for a few moments.

After a while we invite one another to experience the fullness of our torso,

Of our abdomen,

The trunk of the tree.

The extension,

The presencing of our body.

Maybe even in the higher portion of our body,

Our chest and our shoulders,

The higher trunk of the tree.

Allowing ourselves to find the breath,

The expansion of chest,

The spine like a trunk of a tree.

And as we embark together in this journey we eventually find the crown,

Our crown,

The foliage of the tree moving and dancing in the presence of air,

Of wind,

Of the elements,

At times being touched by the sun or the rain.

Allowing ourselves to dive into a sense of rootedness and fluidity.

A sense of presence,

Of existence.

Imagining now that fullness,

The wholeness of the tree,

The tree as a whole rooted and kissed by the wind and the elements.

Reminding ourselves that is our own body.

For a moment now,

Imagining the space around the tree,

The space around our body.

And imagining that we can allow ourselves to let that perceived space expand.

Noticing the space between our very own tree and other trees around us.

Envisioning roots and crown,

The space around and in between.

Allowing ourselves to dwell just a little longer in the presence of tree-ness.

Whenever it feels comfortable to do so,

Allowing ourselves to blink our eyes open.

Letting the eyes wander where they desire to go.

And allowing for that sense of rootedness and crown-ness to remain with us,

Even with our eyes open.
