Tunteeya Yamaoka

Tunteeya is a psychologist and founder of Ikigai Psychology Clinic. Combining her expertise in mental health with the transformative practice of meditation and mindfulness, she is passionate about Eastern philosophy and sharing the true meaning of Ikigai with the world. The concept of Ikigai, meaning "your reason for being", is "the reason you get up in the morning". It has evolved from traditional Japanese principles on wellness, a concept that helps people feel motivated towards living a fulfilling life. In some ways, Ikigai is our "life force", a feeling of being "alive" and having hope towards our future. Ikigai is often related to the Venn Diagram of Purpose, a tool for self-discovery that helps you explore your passion, mission, profession, and vocation. Though this is a popular concept used for self-development, it is only one representation of the deep meaning of the word. The Venn diagram of purpose portrays that to have Ikigai, you must be in a career that fulfills your legacy and passion. This is an enormous amount of pressure to carry, which can often lead to a sense of anxiety. For some, their job may be their Ikigai, their reason for being. But not for all. Tunteeya's mission is to support individuals in living a fulfilling life and support them to live with purpose every single day. A meaningful life is not free from pain or suffering; it is noticing that some forms of pain exist for us to feel, heal, and grow.
