Hello beautiful souls,
This is June Bee and welcome to a beautiful night's sleep.
Thanks for being here for another in the series Bedtime Tales with June Bee.
Join me as we wash the dishes after a dinner party and all the things we will discover on our journey to sleep.
So let's get into your favourite sleeping position,
Making sure you are comfortable,
Close your eyes,
Relax your muscles and slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.
Now let's go to your breathing,
Slowing down the heart rate and let's take some nourishing Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Last time breathe in,
Breathe out.
Settle in now,
Relax and get comfortable.
Listen to the sound of my voice,
If your mind wanders it's okay,
Bring it back to the sound of my voice.
Let go of everything that has happened today and let's go on our journey together.
Today we are going to wash the dishes after a great meal and reminisce about my friends and family and how much fun we had today.
So I have invited people over and had a nice little dinner party of about 12 people.
We had some amazing food.
It was a great time,
A merging of the minds and souls with a twist of fun and laughter rolled in.
We did a potluck evening.
A potluck evening is a meal at which each guest brings a food of their choice and shares it with others.
So after coordinating with everyone to make sure we had everything covered,
We shared some amazing dishes from all over the world.
English dishes including beer-battered fish and Yorkshire puddings with some gravy to boot.
Italian dishes including lasagna and some pizza and a little bruschetta on the side.
Spanish dishes including paella and tortillas with many dips.
African dishes including jollof rice.
Caribbean dishes including rice and peas,
Lamb stew and Escovitch fish.
And all the trimmings and side dishes your imagination can fathom.
We ate to our hearts content and had some breathtaking desserts followed with grapes,
Cheese and biscuits to finish off.
We even had a little glass of sherry and some specialty coffees to end.
Then we played some board games and some watched a documentary on the TV.
It was a full evening and such a wonderful time to spend with dear friends and family.
And now I am here over the sink with the dirty dishes,
The running water and thinking about what a great time we had.
As the water flows over these dishes,
Which obviously won't wash themselves,
I am thinking about all the beautiful food we had and how nice it is to clean everything up ready for another great meal.
There are some interesting facts about hand-washing dishes that I will share with you.
According to various sources on the Internet,
The practice of cleaning dishes by hand dates back thousands of years.
Dishes were cleaned using the dry sink method.
In a dry sink,
Dishes are first washed in a soapy bucket and then rinsed in a bucket of clean water.
That is probably where our now regular double sinks started.
For dishwashing liquid,
The ancient Egyptians used a paste made of ash and clay,
While the Greeks and Romans used water and sand for scouring.
There was various combinations of washing up liquid,
Including lye,
Animal fat,
Shrubs,
Plants and many other items in an attempt to clean and sanitize the pots,
Pans,
Dishes and cutlery.
It wasn't until the 17th century in Europe that soap was widely used for cleaning dishes.
However,
Early soap formulas contained harsh ingredients like lye that were very harsh on delicate dishware.
In the early 20th century,
Dishwashing liquid is born.
Scientists began experimenting with new formulas for cleaning products,
Including those for washing dishes.
In the 1930s,
Dishwashing liquid was invented by German chemist Walter Norman.
He discovered that a mixture of sulfonated oil and sulfuric acid could effectively clean dishes without damaging them.
This was the beginning of modern dishwashing liquid.
During World War II,
A shortage of fats and oils led to the development of synthetic detergents.
These new detergents,
Which were made from petroleum,
Were more effective at dissolving food particles and grease than the traditional soaps.
In the post-war years,
Dishwashing detergent became the preferred method for cleaning dishes in many households.
Over the years,
Dishwashing liquid formulas have continued to evolve.
Today's products are formulated to be tough on grease and food stains while being gentle on hands and dishware.
Many dishwashing liquids also contain fragrances,
Dyes and other ingredients to enhance the cleaning experience.
Nowadays,
There are also eco-friendly options available that use natural ingredients and biodegradable surfacants.
As consumers become more environmentally conscious,
There is a growing demand for sustainable cleaning products.
Companies are responding by creating new formulas that are free from harmful chemicals and use minimal packaging.
In the coming years,
We can expect to see more innovation in the dishwashing liquid industry as companies strive to meet the challenging needs of their customers.
Wow,
That is a lot about the simple act of hand-washing dishes,
Right?
On another note,
I love the sound of running water,
And it is very soothing for me.
I don't really like washing dishes that much,
Although cleaning up the kitchen and the sound of the running water is really relaxing and makes up for the work of cleaning up.
I really enjoy waking up to a clean kitchen,
And it sets the tone for a great day of good food and healthy living for me.
I used to have a dishwasher,
Although I found that dealing with the dirty dishes as they are placed in the sink is the most effective way for me to deal with keeping a clean kitchen.
So I wash as I go,
And that works for me,
Keeping the counters and stove wiped down and as fresh as I can.
So,
As the water has cleared all the mess from the sink,
And all the dishes and cutlery are now clean and ready for more food,
It is time for me to take my rubber gloves off and relax for the evening,
Thinking on all the fun we had and looking forward to planning another party like this.
I'm not sure about you,
I'm getting sleepy even thinking about it.
So I'm ready to let go fully and surrender to sleep.
Thanks for joining me tonight,
And as you slowly drift away,
Have yourself a great night's sleep.
And looking forward to seeing you again for another in the series of Bedtime Tales with June B.
Good night.
