Hi,
And welcome to this meditation.
Take a moment to get comfortable,
However your body wants to settle right now.
Just find a position that feels supportive and at ease.
And if it feels okay,
Let your eyes close,
Or simply soften your gaze.
Let's start by arriving in the present moment.
Noticing that you're here,
That you've paused,
And that you're giving yourself a few minutes to reset.
Start by taking a slow,
Steady breath in.
Hold it for a moment and easily breathe out,
Letting go.
And again,
Just like that,
Take a slow,
Steady breath in.
Hold at the top,
And then let it go,
Breathing out fully.
Settling into this moment.
And now just find a pace and depth of breathing that feels most natural.
Just noticing the rise and fall of your belly as you breathe in and breathe out.
Bringing your attention into your body.
By noticing where you're making contact with the ground or floor beneath you.
Noticing your feet,
Your legs,
Your back.
Just noticing the immediate experience of your breath and body.
Nothing to change.
Just the awareness of what is.
If you notice your mind is busy right now,
And it's difficult to focus.
That's okay,
That's part of the practice.
You don't have to clear your mind.
Just keep coming back to your felt sense of this immediate moment.
Maybe the feeling of breathing,
Or your body being held by the seat beneath you.
As we're learning to relate to our stress in a different way.
You might gently bring to mind something that's been weighing on you lately.
Not your heaviest thing,
Just something real.
A mild frustration,
Annoyance,
Or a worry.
Something that's been quietly taking up space in your mind.
As you bring this to mind,
Notice what shifts in your body.
How does your body automatically react to this?
Maybe there's tightening somewhere,
A subtle pressure.
An urge to figure it out or push it away even.
See if you can just notice that without rushing to change it or make it any different.
You don't have to react or solve anything right now.
You're just trying to be here with whatever shows up.
Noticing how your body responds to stress,
Breathing through that.
It's a different way of relating to that stress response.
And there can be a quiet strength in staying present with something that feels uncomfortable.
So from this perspective,
Gently ask yourself,
What part of this issue is actually within my control right now?
Just let something surface,
No need to force an answer.
It could be something very small.
Maybe just your effort,
Your attitude,
The next step you can take.
The way you choose to respond.
Let that come into focus as you take a conscious and mindful breath.
Noticing the story that comes along with stress.
And what it's like to hold space for that without reacting to it.
Or removing your agency that you actually have.
Now you might also want to notice what's not in your control with this issue.
It may be how other people respond,
How things unfold.
What hasn't happened yet and may never happen the way you're imagining it.
Just for this moment,
See if you can loosen your grip on those things out of your control.
Just setting them down for now.
Letting go for the remainder of this practice.
Taking a breath in and releasing tension in your body as you exhale.
Breathing in a sense of ease and steadiness as a reminder that you can sit with this.
Notice the difference between the reaction in your body when you focus on what's in your control.
When you're gripping and trying to control those things outside of your influence.
And maybe bring a little curiosity to what this situation is actually asking of you.
Not why is this happening but what might this be inviting me to grow into?
Who is this situation asking me to become?
Maybe it's more patience,
Clarity or courage.
Or setting a boundary.
Or showing up in a way that's a little more honest and grounded.
Just open up your curiosity and insight around how stress can be a catalyst for our growth and resilience.
You can begin to hold this stressful situation a little differently.
Not just as something to get through but as something that in its own way is shaping you.
Maybe challenging you,
Yes,
But also strengthening something.
Take a breath here and notice your body again.
The rising and falling of your abdomen.
The entirety of your body in this moment.
Noticing the felt sense of being present.
And that even when something shows up that you want to turn away from,
That you may be able to hold that.
Noticing what it's been like to gather and direct your energy in a way that supports balance and resilience.
And that even in the middle of stress,
Something in you is still capable of growing.
There is a quietly opening potential that comes from pressure in our lives.
Let that land naturally and take what you need from this idea.
That stress is a natural part of our human experience and we can learn to modulate it,
Manage it,
And use it in a way to help us reach what actually matters.
As we begin to wrap up,
Take one more slow deep breath.
And gently bring your awareness back to the space around you.
Bringing movement into your body,
Wiggling your fingers or toes.
And before you move on from this,
Ask yourself,
What's one small way I want to show up next?
Nothing big or profound,
Just something intentional,
Something practical.
Breathe that into this moment.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes and continue with your day,
Carrying a bit more steadiness with you.
Thank you for listening and take care.
