Hello,

Beautiful one.

Welcome to this guided meditation to help you to drift into sleep with ease.

I'm Kelly Dennis,

And I'll be your guide on this snowy,

Sleepy,

Dreamy walk.

Begin by lying down in your bed or wherever you want to be asleep,

Pulling the covers up if that feels good to do so,

And allowing your body to feel supported by your bed and your head by your pillow,

Allowing your arms to rest on your body somewhere comfortably or down along your sides.

And gently close your eyes if you feel ready to do that.

If not,

Just soft focus somewhere up above you or down below your nose.

Begin by taking a nice,

Slow,

Deep breath in and letting it out,

And taking another slow,

Deep,

Full breath in.

And on the exhale,

Just allowing yourself to release.

And then breathing in whatever way feels good to you,

Bringing mindful awareness to this act of breathing,

Investigating what it's like to breathe,

Noticing the rise and the fall of your body,

Or the way the air changes temperature as you inhale and exhale.

If you find that your mind begins to wander off,

That's okay.

Just gently notice where it went and bring it back to this soothing act of breathing.

Some find it helpful to count their breaths.

You could count 1 on the inhale,

2 on the exhale,

3 on the inhale,

4 on the exhale,

And continuing to breathe until you get to 10.

Good.

And now just noticing the quality of your breath as you breathe,

Allowing it to be slow and rhythmic if that's what feels good right now.

And as you breathe comfortably and easily,

Bringing your attention now to your body,

Noticing your toes,

Giving them a little wiggle,

Perhaps feeling the touching of the sheet or the blanket,

Noticing the bottoms of your feet and any physical sensations coming up to the tops of your feet and into your ankles,

Bringing your awareness up into your lower legs,

Your calves and your shins,

The backs of your knees and the tops of your knees,

Up into the backs of your thighs as they rest against whatever you're lying on,

The tops of your thighs,

Just noticing any physical sensations in your legs as a whole,

Coming up into your hips and your buttocks as they rest against the bed,

Coming into your pelvic floor,

Your low belly and your low back,

Noticing the length of your spine as it rests gently supported by whatever you're lying upon,

Noticing your diaphragm,

Your ribcage,

Your chest and all those organs that are inside this area of your body,

Allowing your belly to soften,

Your chest to relax and open up as you come in to your neck and your shoulders,

Bringing attention down into each arm,

All the way to your fingertips,

Becoming aware of the physical sensations in your hands,

Buzzing or tingling or numbness,

Bringing your attention back up to your neck,

Your throat,

Your jaw,

Perhaps swallowing gently,

Allowing your tongue to rest on the floor of your mouth,

Bringing your awareness up into your face,

The muscles around your mouth and your nose and your eyes,

Allowing that little space between your eyebrows to smooth and soften,

Smoothing out your forehead,

Coming up into the top of your head and the back of your head,

Just getting a general idea about how your body feels as a whole,

And if you notice any areas of tension or tightness,

Just allowing the warmth of your breath to soothe and comfort any of those tense or tight places,

Allowing your body to feel as comfortable as it wants to feel right now.

And as you breathe,

Notice that with every exhalation,

Your body can sink deeper and deeper into your bed,

Fully supported,

Able to let go of the tensions of the day,

Bringing your awareness to any emotions you notice rocking around inside of you,

And just giving them a name if you can,

Breathing in,

Making space for them,

And then letting them go as you are able.

Coming up into the vastness of your mind,

Noticing the mental activity that might be happening there.

Perhaps you've settled in and you're feeling a moment of stillness.

Maybe your mind is still very active,

Just noticing and allowing any of those thoughts,

That mental activity,

To just come and go as I walk you through a sleepy time in the snowy woods,

Just imagining that all bundled up,

You've started out on a journey,

A path that's open and wide,

And as you're walking,

You begin to feel and see a few sparkly snowflakes drifting down from the sky.

The sun is just beginning to set,

And you can see some of the colors coming through the clouds,

Muting the sunset ever so slightly,

And as the dusk begins to come,

You're walking very gently and effortlessly on the path,

Noticing your feet as they step on perhaps the gravel pathway,

Hearing the gentle crunch with each footstep,

Noticing the smooth way your stride just puts one foot down and picks the other up,

And puts that foot down and picks the other up.

You notice that your arms are gently swaying,

And you begin to lift your face as the cool frozen bits of snow touch your skin,

And as you look up,

You can see that the snow is sparkling in the last remnants of light,

Like sparkling diamonds in the sky,

Floating effortlessly down to the ground,

And as you begin to walk,

Taking in your surroundings,

The grass on one side,

And perhaps a few pebbles or rocks on the other side,

You notice the last of the birds fluttering toward the trees,

And you begin to hear the noise of the town or the city fading in the background,

And soon the snow begins to fall more quickly,

Still gentle snowflakes floating and dancing as they make their way to the ground,

Each one being so beautiful and different from the others,

And you can notice now that you don't really hear the crunch of the gravel under your feet anymore as you walk,

And the snow has created a gentle soft cushion,

Muffling the sounds of your feet,

And as the snow becomes somewhat heavier now,

You can feel that hush all around you,

That silence that is like none other except when the snow is falling,

The sun has set now,

And you can see that a hazy moon has started to arise,

But the snow clouds are making it hard to see the moon,

You begin to notice that the grass is covered,

And the pebbles and the rocks have a snow frosting on top of them,

And as you continue to walk,

You can just feel the wonderful peacefulness of a gentle snowfall,

And your path begins to narrow now as you come to the edge of the woods,

And as you peer in,

You can see that the snow hasn't quite made it all the way to the ground,

It hangs heavily on the trees and the bushes,

And occasionally you can hear it sliding off a branch with a little thump onto the ground,

And as you walk your way through,

You begin to see the little woodland creatures,

The rabbits and the squirrels are beginning to go to find their places to sleep for the night,

And as you continue to walk,

The snow becomes heavier,

And it begins to make its way down through the leaves and the branches,

All the way to the woodland floor,

And so you can begin to see the footprints of the woodland creatures as they scurry toward their burrows or their homes for the night,

And there's a peacefulness that settles now all around you as you walk comfortably and easily along the path,

Noticing the shadows and the light as they play on the woodland floor,

And you can notice that your arms and your legs are beginning to feel somewhat tired now,

And as you look ahead,

You can see a little bit of a clearing in the trees,

And as you move forward,

You can hear the gentle sound of a bubbling brook,

And you know that if you follow that bubbling brook for little ways,

You'll find a familiar cabin that is kept up for weary travelers,

And so as you come upon the brook and you stop for a moment and just watch the sparkling water as it tumbles over the rocks and the branches,

You can see the little outcroppings where the snow has become to accumulate here,

And so over time,

There will be less and less of the water to see,

And more snow on the banks,

And as you proceed,

Walking slowly and gently,

Hearing the crunch of the crust of the snow under your feet as you walk,

Following the bubbling brook,

You come to that familiar cabin,

And you see that there's a little tundra of smoke coming out from the chimney,

And someone has created a fire in the stove,

And so as you walk up to the path,

You see a gentle glimmer of light coming through the windows,

And notice the white snow on top of the roof,

And you slowly reach out your hand and you open the door,

And the scene inside is just so inviting.

There truly is a fire in the stove,

And two lanterns lit,

And the soft flow of the sound of the snow gently falling outside,

The glow of the light from the lanterns,

And the warmth from the fire in the stove are so very inviting,

And as you begin to take off your snowy outer garments,

Taking off your boots,

And you see that there's a warm comfy bed that seems so familiar to you,

And so gently blowing out one lantern,

You find yourself crawling into the bed,

Blowing out the other lantern,

And snuggling down in to the softness and the cozy warmth that is so inviting and familiar to you,

And as you get into a comfortable position,

You notice that your arms and legs are feeling heavy with tiredness and relaxation.

You notice that your face is chilly from the walk in the snow,

But your body is warm and comfortable,

And as you gently close your eyes,

You take in the sounds around you,

The stillness,

And you begin to notice that your breath is slowing down,

Your body is sinking deeper and deeper into relaxation,

And as you begin to drift off into blissful slumber,

You know that tomorrow you will awaken refreshed and revitalized and ready for the day ahead,

Whatever it might bring.

You'll awake in your own bed,

In your own bed,

Feeling restful and revitalized,

Drifting away now,

Drifting into sweet,

Soft slumber.

Namaste,

Beautiful one.
