Hello and welcome to this festive sleep meditation.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
This is Kim Coleman-Walsh and I will be your guide tonight to visit the old curiosity shop in London.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
As you listen to this recording,
You can step away from any concerns or anxieties.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
There is absolutely nothing that you need to do.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Just lie back and listen.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Allowing yourself to be transported to a place of magic and delight.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
A place where you give yourself some time and space away from the outside world.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
So.
.
.
.
.
.
When you are ready.
.
.
.
.
.
Please make yourself comfortable in your bed.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Take a deep breath in.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
And as you slowly breathe out.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Close your eyes.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
And begin to relax.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
And bring your attention to the sounds you now hear.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
The sound of my voice.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
So that each and everything you hear.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Every word.
.
.
.
.
.
Every space between the words.
.
.
.
.
.
Help you to relax more deeply.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
To drift into a deep and restful sleep.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
So that you sleep deeply throughout the night.
.
.
.
.
.
And awake only at a time that you set for yourself.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Feeling optimistic.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Relaxed.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
And refreshed.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Breathing deeply in.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
And slowly out.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
And with each breath.
.
.
.
.
.
Letting go of your thoughts.
.
.
.
.
.
And your judgments.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Letting go of any expectations.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Letting go of everything that is unnecessary.
.
.
.
.
.
So that everything that is not needed dissolves into the background.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Allowing you to feel.
.
.
.
.
.
Experience.
.
.
.
.
.
A sense of turning the volume down on your thoughts.
.
.
.
.
.
And as you tune in to the relaxing sounds.
.
.
.
.
.
And sensations.
.
.
.
.
.
Your body feeling so very relaxed and heavy.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Sinking deeper down into your bed.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
And in your imagination now.
.
.
.
.
.
You see.
.
.
.
.
.
Feel.
.
.
.
.
.
Experience yourself walking slowly along a festive London street.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
It is early evening in winter.
.
.
.
.
.
And you see the first few snowflakes begin to fall softly on the pavement.
.
.
.
.
.
There are colourful lights.
.
.
.
.
.
And decorations that festoon the various shops.
.
.
.
.
.
And buildings.
.
.
.
.
.
And where you are walking.
.
.
.
.
.
It is completely pedestrianised.
.
.
.
.
.
But from larger roads behind you.
.
.
.
.
.
There comes the soft hum of distant traffic.
.
.
.
.
.
And the gentle splash of snow.
.
.
.
.
.
And water.
.
.
.
.
.
As the vehicles make their way along the streets.
.
.
.
.
.
You can hear people laughing.
.
.
.
.
.
And chatting.
.
.
.
.
.
And from a shop further along.
.
.
.
.
.
The sound of Christmas carols further invites you into the jovial ambience of the city.
.
.
.
.
.
Walking past a food stall.
.
.
.
.
.
Where a street vendor is roasting chestnuts.
.
.
.
.
.
You feel the warmth.
.
.
.
.
.
From the open fire.
.
.
.
.
.
And smell the aroma of the baked chestnuts.
.
.
.
.
.
The twinkling lights.
.
.
.
.
.
The festive songs.
.
.
.
.
.
The relaxed atmosphere of the coming holiday.
.
.
.
.
.
All these things imbue a feeling of cheerfulness.
.
.
.
.
.
And wonder.
.
.
.
.
.
Perhaps rekindling happy childhood memories of the season.
.
.
.
.
.
Continuing to walk slowly along the street.
.
.
.
.
.
Each footstep.
.
.
.
.
.
Aware of the pavement beneath your feet.
.
.
.
.
.
You can allow yourself to feel deeper.
.
.
.
.
.
And deeper relaxed.
.
.
.
.
.
The snow beginning to fall more heavily.
.
.
.
.
.
With the occasional soft flake being felt on your cheek.
.
.
.
.
.
And just ahead of you now.
.
.
.
.
.
You see one of London's oldest surviving shops.
.
.
.
.
.
The old Curiosity shop.
.
.
.
.
.
It's construction dates back to 1567.
.
.
.
.
.
Built during Elizabeth I's reign.
.
.
.
.
.
And it has a peculiar ramshamble look to it.
.
.
.
.
.
Which is not surprising.
.
.
.
.
.
As it's believed to be made from the wood of old ships.
.
.
.
.
.
It has a red tiled roof.
.
.
.
.
.
And the lights from within emit a soft.
.
.
.
.
.
Welcoming glow through the shop front windows.
.
.
.
.
.
As you quietly push open the door.
.
.
.
.
.
And enter.
.
.
.
.
.
As the door closes softly behind you.
.
.
.
.
.
The sounds from outside fade into the distance.
.
.
.
.
.
And you perceive a sensation of being enveloped in the coziness of the shop.
.
.
.
.
.
There is an aroma of oranges.
.
.
.
.
.
And warm Christmas spices.
.
.
.
.
.
Mixed with cedar.
.
.
.
.
.
And the woody scent of burning logs from the open fireplace.
.
.
.
.
.
It is radiating the most perfect temperature for you.
.
.
.
.
.
And the flickering flames cast shadows.
.
.
.
.
.
And a warm golden light onto the shop floor.
.
.
.
.
.
You can hear the soft crackle sound of the burning wood.
.
.
.
.
.
And the ticking of a tall old grandfather clock.
.
.
.
.
.
Walking slowly through the store.
.
.
.
.
.
Which is lit only by old Victorian lanterns.
.
.
.
.
.
You see along the shelves the most varied and beautiful of gifts.
.
.
.
.
.
No two items are the same.
.
.
.
.
.
There are many things that you recognize.
.
.
.
.
.
Books bound in sumptuously coloured covers.
.
.
.
.
.
Ornate perfume bottles.
.
.
.
.
.
Jars and containers of the most beautifully scented lotions.
.
.
.
.
.
There is also a large shelf on which you can see brittly packaged confectionery.
.
.
.
.
.
And chocolates.
.
.
.
.
.
As well as various teas.
.
.
.
.
.
And beverages that you have never heard of before.
.
.
.
.
.
And in the shop.
.
.
.
.
.
You can see many items that are completely unknown to you.
.
.
.
.
.
And just ahead of you now.
.
.
.
.
.
There are clear spheres of glass.
.
.
.
.
.
Which appear to be suspended magically in the air.
.
.
.
.
.
They are all different sizes.
.
.
.
.
.
With sparkling substances within.
.
.
.
.
.
Studying these more closely.
.
.
.
.
.
Reveals that each sphere looks as if it contains a micro-galaxy.
.
.
.
.
.
And all the contents within are glittering.
.
.
.
.
.
And swirling.
.
.
.
.
.
As one sphere gently floats past your ear.
.
.
.
.
.
You hear the most beautiful music.
.
.
.
.
.
Coming softly from the floating orb.
.
.
.
.
.
And as another passes.
.
.
.
.
.
You hear a different tune.
.
.
.
.
.
So that you realize that each glittering orb has its own special sound.
.
.
.
.
.
And continuing to walk slowly towards the back of the shop.
.
.
.
.
.
You see a table that is arranged with a variety of ornately decorated wooden boxes.
.
.
.
.
.
And the intricate inlay of the shimmering mother of pearl.
.
.
.
.
.
Are of varying images on each box.
.
.
.
.
.
The boxes themselves come in many different sizes.
.
.
.
.
.
And types of wood.
.
.
.
.
.
And one in particular catches your eye.
.
.
.
.
.
As one of the inlaid birds actually appears to flutter across the imagined sky.
.
.
.
.
.
And settles on the branch of a tree.
.
.
.
.
.
That makes up part of a woodland scene.
.
.
.
.
.
And perhaps it was a trick of the light.
.
.
.
.
.
You step closer to view the box more clearly.
.
.
.
.
.
This time you are certain.
.
.
.
.
.
The little mother of pearl inlaid nightingale gently glides down to the foot of the tree.
.
.
.
.
.
And hops forward.
.
.
.
.
.
Now appearing to look directly at you.
.
.
.
.
.
He begins to chirp.
.
.
.
.
.
The most beautiful bird song you have ever heard.
.
.
.
.
.
And as he finishes his song.
.
.
.
.
.
You see him turn away from you.
.
.
.
.
.
And continuing to chirp.
.
.
.
.
.
He hops towards the entrance to the woodland.
.
.
.
.
.
A pathway that makes its way through the magical forest.
.
.
.
.
.
The nightingale flutters his wings.
.
.
.
.
.
And flies through the boughed trees.
.
.
.
.
.
To disappear into the woodland scene.
.
.
.
.
.
You can no longer see him.
.
.
.
.
.
But you still hear his melody echoing happily through the forest.
.
.
.
.
.
And listening carefully.
.
.
.
.
.
You also begin to hear the sounds of music.
.
.
.
.
.
An enchanting tune that appears to be emanating from inside the box.
.
.
.
.
.
And slowly increasing in volume.
.
.
.
.
.
And intrigued.
.
.
.
.
.
You naturally open the lid to investigate where the sound is coming from.
.
.
.
.
.
Looking inside.
.
.
.
.
.
You see what looks like a small stage.
.
.
.
.
.
It is the most realistic miniature theatre you could ever imagine.
.
.
.
.
.
And the stage scenery shows a woodland scene at night.
.
.
.
.
.
A luminescent full moon is glimpsed through the tree canopy.
.
.
.
.
.
Casting magical shafts of iridescent light through to the clearing that is centre stage.
.
.
.
.
.
And looking more closely.
.
.
.
.
.
You even see little fireflies flitting amongst the forest foliage.
.
.
.
.
.
As the beautiful music continues to play.
.
.
.
.
.
You see a minute but lifelike looking ballerina gracefully dance onto the stage from the side.
.
.
.
.
.
And into the clearing.
.
.
.
.
.
And gradually.
.
.
.
.
.
This ballerina is joined by other enchanting ballet dancers.
.
.
.
.
.
It is quite simply the most mesmerizing and delightful performance you have ever seen.
.
.
.
.
.
And you are filled with a perception of wonder.
.
.
.
.
.
And delight.
.
.
.
.
.
Watching this miniature theatre show.
.
.
.
.
.
As the dance ends.
.
.
.
.
.
Ballerinas one by one.
.
.
.
.
.
Curtsy to you.
.
.
.
.
.
Smile happily.
.
.
.
.
.
And wave their goodbyes.
.
.
.
.
.
Each making their way backstage again.
.
.
.
.
.
And the heavy velvet curtains of the stage begin to slowly close.
.
.
.
.
.
And once fully drawn.
.
.
.
.
.
The lid of the box closes slowly.
.
.
.
.
.
And silently.
.
.
.
.
.
And next to where you are standing is a large cabinet.
.
.
.
.
.
The doors of which are open to display the contents inside.
.
.
.
.
.
Within.
.
.
.
.
.
You see the neatly stacked sets of the most beautiful bedding.
.
.
.
.
.
There are pillows.
.
.
.
.
.
Bedsheets.
.
.
.
.
.
Blankets.
.
.
.
.
.
And duvets.
.
.
.
.
.
And as you come closer to view the most beautiful fabrics.
.
.
.
.
.
You notice that each of the sets of bed linen are wrapped in a gorgeous silk bow.
.
.
.
.
.
Each luxuriant bundle of bedding is labelled with an individual's name.
.
.
.
.
.
Casting your eyes across the labels.
.
.
.
.
.
You read the names of various family members.
.
.
.
.
.
And friends.
.
.
.
.
.
Until you come to the one with your name.
.
.
.
.
.
And as you reach out to touch the fabric.
.
.
.
.
.
You feel the most beautiful soft textured bed linen.
.
.
.
.
.
And it is in your favourite relaxing colour.
.
.
.
.
.
Perhaps a dusky pink.
.
.
.
.
.
A powder blue.
.
.
.
.
.
Or a soft ivory.
.
.
.
.
.
And it may be plain.
.
.
.
.
.
Or brittly patterned.
.
.
.
.
.
But it is absolutely perfect for you.
.
.
.
.
.
And as you lift the pillow to feel its softness against your cheek.
.
.
.
.
.
You immediately find yourself in bed.
.
.
.
.
.
Which has been made up with your very own beautiful bedding.
.
.
.
.
.
At the foot of your bed.
.
.
.
.
.
You see a wrapped present.
.
.
.
.
.
That strangely resembles the size and shape of a magical musical box that you viewed in the shop.
.
.
.
.
.
And floating gently in the air beside you.
.
.
.
.
.
Is your very own musical orb.
.
.
.
.
.
It glows softly.
.
.
.
.
.
And warmly.
.
.
.
.
.
And its soothing tune plays lightly.
.
.
.
.
.
You allow your body to sink more deeply down into your bed.
.
.
.
.
.
Letting go.
.
.
.
.
.
To drift easily down into your dreamscape.
.
.
.
.
.
So.
.
.
.
.
.
Soothed.
.
.
.
.
.
Happy.
.
.
.
.
.
Content.
.
.
.
.
.
Sensations of relaxation and ease flow through your mind.
.
.
.
.
.
And body.
.
.
.
.
.
A soothing.
.
.
.
.
.
Peaceful sensation.
.
.
.
.
.
A wave of soft tranquility.
.
.
.
.
.
Beginning at the top of your head.
.
.
.
.
.
And flowing softly.
.
.
.
.
.
Gently down your forehead.
.
.
.
.
.
And over your eyes.
.
.
.
.
.
Allowing all those muscles to smooth and relax.
.
.
.
.
.
As your attention travels over.
.
.
.
.
.
And continuing down your cheeks.
.
.
.
.
.
To your jaw.
.
.
.
.
.
Parting your teeth just a little.
.
.
.
.
.
Relaxing deeper.
.
.
.
.
.
And deeper down.
.
.
.
.
.
Quiet.
.
.
.
.
.
Peaceful.
.
.
.
.
.
Serene.
.
.
.
.
.
As the wave of ease and relaxation travels softly down the back of your neck.
.
.
.
.
.
And gently across your shoulders.
.
.
.
.
.
Slowly down your arms.
.
.
.
.
.
To your hands.
.
.
.
.
.
To your fingertips.
.
.
.
.
.
Letting go to slumber.
.
.
.
.
.
And dreams.
.
.
.
.
.
Breathing deeply in.
.
.
.
.
.
And slowly out.
.
.
.
.
.
The soft wave of relaxation and tranquility flows across your chest.
.
.
.
.
.
And down to your tummy.
.
.
.
.
.
Feeling so peaceful.
.
.
.
.
.
Quiet.
.
.
.
.
.
Still.
.
.
.
.
.
Across your upper back.
.
.
.
.
.
And slowly.
.
.
.
.
.
Lightly down.
.
.
.
.
.
Down.
.
.
.
.
.
Down.
.
.
.
.
.
All the way down to your lower back.
.
.
.
.
.
Drifting.
.
.
.
.
.
And floating.
.
.
.
.
.
On ease.
.
.
.
.
.
And contentment.
.
.
.
.
.
Continuing down your pelvis.
.
.
.
.
.
And your buttocks.
.
.
.
.
.
To your legs.
.
.
.
.
.
Your thighs.
.
.
.
.
.
Knees.
.
.
.
.
.
Calfs.
.
.
.
.
.
Ankles.
.
.
.
.
.
To your feet.
.
.
.
.
.
All the way down to the tips of your toes.
.
.
.
.
.
Your entire body bathed in sensations of comfort.
.
.
.
.
.
And sleep.
.
.
.
.
.
Taking with you into your everyday waking state.
.
.
.
.
.
All the benefits of this meditation.
.
.
.
.
.
Feeling refreshed.
.
.
.
.
.
Relaxed.
.
.
.
.
.
Happy.
.
.
.
.
.
And content.
.
.
.
.
.
Drifting easily now into dreams.
.
.
.
.
.
And sleep.
.
.
.
.
.
Sleep.
.
.
.
.
.
Sleep.
.
.
.
.
.
Sleep.
.
.
.
.
.
Sleep.
Sleep.
Sleep.
Sleep.
Sleep.
Sleep.
Sleep.
Sleep.
Sleep.
Sleep.
Sleep.
I hope you have a wonderful dream,
Sleep,
And good night.
Good night.
Good night.
Good night.
Good night.
Good night.
Good night.
Good night.
Good night.
Good night.
Good night.
