Before we begin,
Find a space where the world can wait for a few moments.
Finding a deep permission to be completely unavailable to anyone but yourself.
Reach for an eye mask,
A scarf or any soft piece of clothing.
If you have nothing near you,
Your own palms will be a perfect shield.
As you settle into a seated or reclining position,
Gently cover your eyes.
Notice how the world immediately becomes smaller,
Quieter.
You are creating a private sanctuary.
There is no one to perform for and nothing you need to fix.
Just observe it like a curious friend.
Notice the subtle expansion of your ribs.
The rhythm of a life that is taking care of you,
Even when things feel chaotic.
Notice how the darkness behind your eyelids isn't empty.
Guide you into the sense of peace.
The surface is a chaotic dance of bubbles and steam.
You simply can't see the bottom.
This is overwhelming.
It is not a failure of your sight.
It is simply the nature of the heat.
As you sit in this safe darkness,
Notice that your hand is on the dial.
You have the power to slowly,
Notch by notch,
Turn the heat down.
Identify three things that have been weighing on your heart lately.
Let them surface like those bubbles.
Now with the compassion of a healer,
We are going to look behind the struggle.
We aren't erasing the pain.
We are looking for the hidden architecture of your strength.
If it is heartache,
Notice that this pain is the shadow cast by your incredible capacity to love.
You are hurting because you are brave enough to care.
If it is grief,
Acknowledge the air.
Grief is simply love with no place to go.
It proves that the time you had was precious.
What has this situation revealed to me about my own resilience?
What boundary did it teach me to set?
Keep your eyes closed as you slowly and gently begin to remove the covering from your face.
Continue to keep your eyes closed.
Notice any shifts in temperature.
Notice how even with your lids closed,
The light begins to seep through the edges.
This is how healing works.
It doesn't happen all at once.
It seeps in through the cracks of our experiences.
The light was always there.
The gratitude was always waiting behind the overwhelm.
A tiny smile touched the corner of your mouth.
Now gently bring your palms together and rub them as vigorously as you can,
Trying to create some heat.
Your own energy.
Your own warmth.
Set one intention for the rest of the day or night.
Or simply,
I am enough.
Take one deep breath in.
Sealing in that intention to carry you through the rest of the day,
Night,
Week,
Whatever you need.
