Welcome to this mindfulness practice.
To start.
Take a moment to think about a time in the recent past.
Where you spoke to yourself harshly.
Perhaps it was a time that you didn't achieve what you had hoped to.
Or a time where you did something that made you feel embarrassed.
Maybe it was a time you were criticized by someone else.
Try to remember the situation that caused you to speak to yourself harshly.
In as much detail as you can.
Now,
Remember what you said to yourself.
And how you said it.
During the situation.
Perhaps you called yourself names.
Maybe you told yourself you should be different in some way.
Perhaps you criticized yourself?
Or used an aggressive tone of voice with yourself.
Try to remember how it felt when you spoke to yourself like that.
Now that you have the situation and what you said to yourself in mind,
Think about how a kind Little League coach would respond in the same situation.
What would they say?
How would they say it?
What facial expressions and tone of voice would they use?
Once you have some ideas in mind.
Let's practice speaking to yourself about this situation just like a Little League coach.
Ready?
Go ahead.
As you do this.
Notice how it feels to speak to yourself like a Little League coach.
Now.
.
.
Take a moment to say any last understanding and kind words to yourself about this situation that you'd like.
And when you're ready,
You can return to your day.
