We live in a time where most of the comforts we have around us were just a few years ago the luxury of kings and queens. A flick of a switch and we manifest light. A few presses on our devices can instantly connect us to our loved ones. Yet we are still not satisfied and keep looking for happiness.

Hi and welcome to this guided meditation.

My name is Leslie and I will be a guide to these minutes of relaxation.

To start the meditation,

Move into a comfortable position.

This can be either sitting or sleeping.

If sitting on the floor,

You can sit cross-leg.

If using a chair,

Sit with your feet flat on the ground.

Keep your back upright,

Hands on your knees,

Palms facing outward and head slightly tilted upward.

If sleeping,

Sleep flat on your back without a pillow.

Keep your arms to your sides with your palms facing upwards.

Keep your eyes closed with a gentle focus between your eyebrows.

Let's focus on our breathing and start taking deep breaths.

Breathe in through your nose and let the air fill your lungs.

And then breathe out through your nose.

As we go to this meditation,

We will keep taking these deep relaxing breaths.

And if you find yourself lost,

Then bring back your focus to my voice and keep taking deep relaxing breaths.

This meditation is focused on our search for happiness.

We live in a time where most of the comforts we have around us were just a few years ago the luxury of kings and queens.

We flick a switch and we manifest light.

A few simple buttons sets the room temperature to a comfortable level.

Few presses on our devices instantly connect us to our loved ones.

Instant meals,

Unlimited entertainment,

Feasts fit for kings and queens.

Yet,

We are still unhappy.

We still feel that this is not enough.

And we are searching for that all elusive happiness.

How many times have we thought to ourselves that we will be happy when we buy a house,

When we get a better job,

When we have more money,

When we find true love,

Lose weight,

Buy a car,

Get married,

Have children,

Retire,

Go on a holiday.

And yet,

When we achieve these things,

The happiness seems to be momentary.

There is a bit of happiness,

But we soon lose that feeling.

And then we start chasing the next thing that we expect will give us so-called happiness.

In truth,

Happiness is simply the opposite of sadness,

The other side of the coin.

If we are looking for happiness,

Then we are telling ourselves that we are currently living in a state of sadness.

We need to stop looking for happiness as it is a goal or a target that will simply keep alluding us.

Instead,

We need to shift our focus and look for peace,

For fulfillment,

For serenity.

But how do we experience this peace?

We can start with living in gratitude,

Appreciating things around us that we already have.

Our families,

Friends,

Comforts,

Just the nature around us.

We can live in the present moment,

Engaging and experiencing every activity that we are doing,

Be it reading,

Working,

Cooking,

Or simply having a chat with a friend.

We can strive to experience what we are doing to the fullest and just enjoy the fulfillment of the present moment,

Where there are no desires and no expectations.

And living in the present moment,

Let us experience a deep sense of satisfaction and let us find our peace.

Thank you for your time.

Very true words of wisdom ... we all need to hear these words to remind us of what we already have, in an all too busy all consuming all materialistic world we find ourselves in. Thank you 🙏
