Hey there,
My name is Lisa and welcome to this meditation for peace.
Those days when you feel like perfectionism is eating you up or you may be comparing yourself to an ideal self.
Or if you're battling inadequacy.
I feel that many of us are so hard on ourselves.
We are constantly comparing ourselves to being perfect at our work,
Perfect partners,
Perfect children,
The perfect body,
Perfect parents,
Perfect soul.
And in reality,
That idea of perfection is just that.
It's an idea.
Though some ideas are brilliant.
Others can be an absolute illusion.
And not necessarily grounded in the reality at all.
A Zen proverb by Shiryu Suzuki says,
Nothing we see or hear is perfect.
But right there,
In this imperfection,
Is the perfect reality.
May this meditation serve you as a forever reminder.
That just by being here,
Your whole.
And you are worthy of living.
Fully.
Outside the idea.
Perfection.
So with that,
My friends,
Feel free to find a cozy,
Comfortable position.
And I invite you to.
.
.
Feel that energy of perfection or self-hatred or inadequacy,
Whatever is coming up for you.
Allow yourself to.
.
.
Feel it.
And where is it located in your body?
And if that feeling were a type of element whether it be ether or stone fire or sludge What energy would this feeling emulate?
And can we breathe into that feeling,
Breathing and expanding into it?
And exhale sighing out.
Let's do that two more times,
Inhaling into that feeling.
And exhale.
And last breath at your own pace.
And can you imagine this energy like a baby animal?
Or small innocent child.
Can you allow yourself to cradle this feeling?
Honoring it.
Knowing it's ok to have days where we feel this way.
Maybe we honor it by swaying from side to side,
Rocking back and forth,
Placing a hand on the area we feel that sensation.
Just allow yourself to be with it,
To breathe with it.
Before we reprimand ourselves for our.
.
.
Mistakes or shoulda,
Woulda,
Couldas or ideas around flaws.
Before we decide this moment isn't enough,
Can we notice how much had to happen for this moment to exist at all?
How much we had to survive.
How much we had to learn to evolve,
To honor.
And as we meditate on.
All that had to happen,
The planets that needed to collide.
The things our ancestors had to survive.
The breath we fought for on the day we were born.
I invite you to recognize three things you wish to honor and celebrate within yourself.
Three things you survived,
Three things you worked for,
Three people that love you.
Three things you wish to celebrate and honor yourself for in this moment.
And I invite you to now.
Think of two ideas around perfectionism you wish to say so long goodbye to.
Where does the mind usually like to go when it comes to perfectionism in comparison to an ideal self?
And what would life look like if you could just say goodbye?
Sayonara And last but not least,
What is one small step,
Seemingly small step you can take for yourself today?
That allows you to live to not wait for perfect.
To honor your worthiness.
Of becoming.
And as we think of this one seemingly small step,
Please remember that nothing has to become flawless before it's worthy of awe and wonder and living.
A scarred leaf still photosynthesizes.
An irregular coastline is still a beautiful coastline.
A grieving person is still capable of love and loving.
A unique body is not some incorrectly assembled version of some hypothetical perfect human body.
And a life that hasn't followed its ideal or original timeline is still blossoming.
You are still worthy of living and blossoming,
My friend.
So with that truth,
Take a nice big deep inhale.
And exhale.
I invite you to set an intention to close this practice,
Whatever it is that you need for this moment.
And I thank you again for joining me.
I hope this meditation truly served you.
Until next time my friend.
Namaste.
