Liz has started her pilgrimage and is tracing the path of some of the world’s most renowned energy currents on a walk across the UK. In today’s '5 Minutes in Nature', she visits Carn Les Boel—where the Mary and Michael energy currents meet as they arrive from the Atlantic Ocean in Cornwall. This crossing point, known as a ‘node point,’ is a place of powerful energy. Today’s reflection centres on walking with steady footing and staying grounded in the present moment, one day at a time.

Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott and you join me on the first day of my pilgrimage at the start point of my walk along the Mary and Michael energy currents and I'm starting right at the tip of Cornwall not far away from Land's End overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and sitting on a rocky outcrop called Carn Leith Bowl and I've used my dowsing rods because there is a node point here and I don't know that I'm much good at dowsing but I did ask the rods to show me the node point and they did cross on a spot that did match the description I was reading so I've settled here and I am just looking out to sea I'm looking along the rocky cliff tops that wind their way down to Land's End it's a beautiful day the sun is shining the sea is a green blue and along the cliff edges I can see sea caves that drop down to the sea and I'm imagining that in times gone by these would have been used by smugglers and this is the beginning of my journey and I wanted to bring you at the very beginning of this journey because it reminds me so much of life the rest of my life a journey in life that feels as though I know the direction it's going to go in but the truth is I have no idea what's going to happen my dear dad used to say plan as though you live forever and live as though you die tomorrow plan as though you live forever and live as though you die tomorrow in other words of course make plans of course have aspirations and thoughts about the future but the truth is today and now and the present moment is all we've got for me in this present moment I am sitting by the node point of the Michael and Mary energy currents I'm reflecting on a journey ahead that I have planned and have aspirations about what I might achieve and how far I might walk but the truth is I have no idea about the future none of us have any idea about the future so this is just about appreciating the present moment the present moment of now it's so easy isn't it to get lost in thoughts of what the future might hold and feeling swamped by memories of the past but my intention is that this walk this pilgrimage is about grounding me in the present moment when I explained to our Ukrainian guest she lives in the city she's a city girl and when I explained to her about the walk she couldn't really understand it like why would you just go walking for walking's sake and it came to me as I was explaining this pilgrimage to her that I'm doing this because in a world that feels so unsettled to me at the moment on a global political scale it just feels as though things are shifting seismically in an unsettled world I wanted to feel the ground beneath my feet the firmness and solidity of the ground that's why I'm walking this route there was something about the Mary and Michael currents that called me so this is what I feel called to do in a world that is to me quite alarming at times is to come right to the present come to the moment and take one step at a time on solid ground so sure I might plan as though I'm going to live forever or plan this walk as though I'm going to get to the very end of it but the truth is I don't know all I know is that I want to be truly present to the way ahead present to the challenges present to joy to gratitude present to the people I meet and just take one step at a time and to feel the wisdom of the earth and to feel a sense of connection this is my attempt to connect with that energy beyond my busy little mind connect to the energy of life itself and to feel myself grounded in what it is to feel like I am walking on solid ground

Thank you Liz. I hear you on the unsettling times that we live in and it felt for me that your walk is a connection to what is truth and certainty, a pure essence of what we truly are and what sustains us. 🌿🙏🏼🌿🌏🌿
