What you seek is seeking you.
An amazing quote from Rumi.
We spend so much of our lives chasing peace,
Clarity,
Success,
Love.
But what if the problem isn't that you haven't found it?
What if you haven't paused long enough to notice that it's already here?
I'm using Ramadan this year as an opportunity to self-reflect.
It's not about self-improvement.
It's about self-remembrance.
And so I ask,
Where in your life,
As I ask myself where in my life,
Am I striving,
Chasing,
Grasping instead of aligning?
Because often what we seek shows up as the same desire repeating itself,
The same frustrations showing up over and over again,
The same dream that you just can't get rid of,
Just keeps coming back to you,
Won't leave you alone.
So instead of asking,
How do I get it?
How about asking,
Where is it already nudging me,
Trying to get my attention?
Because peace might already be in the walk you keep delaying,
The boundary you haven't set,
Or the conversation that you've been avoiding.
So today,
Instead of chasing,
Grasping,
Achieving,
Proving,
Performing,
Reaching,
Searching,
I am going to pause for three minutes and I invite you to do the same.
Just three minutes,
60 seconds,
Three times,
180 seconds.
Put a timer if you need to.
Put your hand on your chest and ask,
What am I really being drawn to?
What is it that I simply must not deny?
Not what I think,
But what I truly feel within my heart.
Now don't force the answer.
Just listen,
Listen with your ears,
With your eyes,
With your heart.
And to help deepen this practice,
You could also journal.
Sometimes it's enough to simply reflect and allow the wisdom to show up.
But if we want to have a deeper practice that's sustainable,
That's really going to impact action that we take,
Journaling is a really powerful practice.
So here's an additional journal prompt.
Where am I trying too hard instead of allowing?
Where am I controlling the outcome that I desire instead of the outcome showing up,
Giving it the space to show up exactly in the way it's meant to?
And to layer that deeper to really allow you to get out of your overthinking mind,
To allow the information to rise,
You can add a layer of music.
So journal to that prompt with a piece of music that's been proven by science to relax the nervous system.
And that song is called Weightless by Marconi Union.
I'll put it in the comments.
It's an instrumental song and it allows your nervous system to really settle.
Let me know how you're going day one and I'll let you know how I go too.
Thank you for joining day one of Rumi's Reflection video series to help you get clearer on your life path.
Until tomorrow.
