Hi I'm Nami and welcome to this meditation which is really about the transient ever changing nature of things the idea that you don't have time to rush we don't have time to rush let's start by finding a comfortable position and let yourself arrive in this moment there's nowhere else you need to be right now and nothing else you need to do be open be gentle notice how it feels to be here alive and breathing in this moment in this precious moment pausing now to reflect we race through life as though we've got endless tomorrows guaranteed and despite the fact that we know this is not the case we forget,
We all forget pausing now to reflect each moment we have will never ever come again in this way the present moment is all we have pausing now to reflect the Buddha offered five remembrances to help us live more fully the remembrances are I am of the nature to age I am of the nature to get ill I am of the nature to die all that is dear to me and everyone I love are of the nature to change and finally my actions are my only true belongings I'll go through those remembrances one more time let them wash over you let them settle in whatever way they need to in this moment I am,
You are,
We are of the nature to age I am,
You are,
We are of the nature to fall ill I am,
You are,
We are of the nature to die all that is dear to me,
All that is dear to you,
All that is dear to us everyone we love is of the nature to change and my actions,
Your actions,
Our actions are our only true belongings pausing now to reflect eat while scrolling on our phones we give loved ones a cursory hug and a quick peck we walk and drive while lost in worried anxious thoughts we have whole conversations while lost in thoughts thinking about our to-do lists and we all do it imagining now approaching precious moments of daily life slightly differently not because we have all the time in the world not because you have all the time in the world but precisely because you don't and precisely because we don't you don't have time to rush I don't have time to rush we don't have time to rush not the precious moments not the moments with loved ones not the moments when we're out in this wonderful,
Wonderful world when you kiss your loved ones goodnight can you linger?
When you eat,
Can you pause and really taste the food?
When you walk,
Particularly when you're walking outside can you walk slowly,
Even if just for a few paces and take a deep breath?
Can you feel the miracle of your feet?
Your feet touching the earth and when someone speaks to you can you really listen?
Can you be with them?
When you find yourself in trance,
As we all do every day can you bring yourself back,
Knowing that you don't have time to rush this moment pausing now to reflect feeling the preciousness of this moment you've given to yourself may you be well may you know that you are loved may your heart and mind be free,
Awake and free and thank you so,
So much for practicing with me today
