Hello I'm Katya or Positively Chronic Travels and welcome to this pre-appointment meditation where we're going to take a few brief moments of calm to prepare for this appointment and set your intentions.
Ensure that you're sitting or lying down as comfortably as you can.
You can be in your own safe space or even somewhere else in public,
Perhaps in the waiting room or on the way there.
So I invite you to either close your eyes or keep them softly open with your gaze down.
We're going to begin by taking a few long slow deep breaths in to fill your lungs and out to slowly release the air.
Breathing in fully and out to release the air.
Breathe in and feel your chest expand.
Breathe out and feel your chest deflate.
Now breathe normally however you feel most comfortable.
You may prefer to repeat these affirmations either in your mind,
Out loud or just listening as I say them,
Whatever resonates with you at this moment.
I am safe.
I am relaxed.
I am calm.
My experience is always valid even if doctors make me question it.
I will advocate for my medical needs.
I will be honest about my experience.
I will clearly relay my case to the doctor.
I will communicate all of my symptoms.
I will come out of the appointment with clarity.
I will ask questions for anything I don't fully understand.
Just because I may have had a previous negative experience doesn't necessarily mean that this will repeat today.
There will be doctors who want to listen and get me the help that I deserve.
I've got this and I'm ready for this appointment.
Now notice your breath as you start to breathe a little deeper again.
Inhale and fill your lungs and as you exhale empty your lungs.
Beam a little smile across your face if you want to and remember that you're going to clearly communicate and advocate for yourself because you are valid and you've got this.
