This guided mediation is dedicated to the cultivation of gratitude for the body and its sense. All that we’re able to experience in our daily life is possible because of having a body-mind that through its sense allows us to experience ourselves and the world around us. And yet, we take most of these experiences for granted, not realizing how much they support us and how essential they are to our life. May this practice increase awareness and appreciation for what our body and senses allow us.

Welcome to this guided meditation dedicated to the cultivation of gratitude in our life.

Before we start,

Take a moment to find a comfortable and stable position where to rest your body for this practice.

All that we experience in our life,

It is experienced because we have a body through the body and through the senses that are so intelligently organized within the body.

This practice will focus on expanding the appreciation and gratitude for all that we experienced and all that supports us in every single day of our life through the body and senses.

As you continue to rest and find your comfortable posture and position,

Take a few moments to begin diving into this practice with a sense of gratitude for the overall experience of the physical body.

Perhaps you will find it helpful to bring your palms together as a gesture of gratitude as we begin.

And as you take the next few breaths,

Become aware of the breath moving in and out of the body.

So very naturally,

Without your conscious awareness for most of the day,

And now with your conscious awareness,

Really appreciating this amazing experience that happened so many times throughout the day.

The breath,

The most important link to life itself.

Take a few moments to feel and appreciate how the body responds to each breath,

The one you're taking right now.

This in and of itself is a great beginning practice of gratitude,

Appreciating the breath that connects us to life in every moment of our existence and the body that is here because of each breath that we're able to take.

Through the senses,

We experience everything within ourselves and in the world that surrounds us.

So let's take a moment to appreciate the intelligence within the body for all the senses and what they're able to allow us to experience every single day.

Everything with your sight.

Take a moment to appreciate how much you experience every day because you're able to see.

Even if your sight requires support,

Correction,

Even if it's not perfect,

Even if there are some disabilities that make your sight difficult and challenging,

Still take a moment to appreciate everything that you're able to do because you're able to see.

Take a moment to appreciate everything that supports you,

Your body,

Your life,

Because you're able to see.

Take a moment to also not just look at the present but also look at your history and your past and notice how much you are able and have been able to experience because of your sight throughout your entire life up to this moment.

How much has happened because you were able to see.

How much have you learned and experienced because you're able to see.

From the very first moments of your life,

Sight has been able to guide you through the world,

Through all your experiences until this moment.

Everything you've learned,

Everything you'll be part of,

Everything you've experienced is most likely being enriched by your ability to see even if the sight as needed helps support correction throughout your journey.

Your eyes and the rest of the brain that allows us to see.

What an incredible,

Intelligent organization that makes sight possible,

Almost miraculously so.

And now take a moment and shift your attention to your hearing.

Even noticing how much is possible every single day because you're able to hear.

Even if with some help,

Support,

Correction,

Challenges perhaps,

You're still able to hear the voices,

The sounds,

Everything around you.

Take a moment to notice and consider how much you benefit every single day.

How much you benefit from your ability to hear.

How much happens because you can hear all that supports you,

All that is possible for you to do because you're able to hear.

And beyond this present moment,

Consider it all of your life,

All of your history and how much has been possible throughout your entire life because you were able to hear.

How much have you learned,

Experienced,

Been able to be part of,

Enjoyed because you were able to hear.

And now take a moment to notice your capacity to feel and to touch right now in this moment.

Recognizing what you're able to touch and feel with your body and appreciating this other amazing sense that allows us to connect with the world around us through touch and feeling.

How much is possible every day because you can feel with your body,

Touch with your hands,

With your feet and other body parts.

So to make it possible for you to experience all the touching and feeling allows you to experience every day.

Even if touch and feeling require some possible help or support,

Even if they come with some challenge and some difficulties.

Still,

How much is possible,

How much supports you every single day because you're able to touch and feel.

And take a moment to reflect about your life journey and how much was possible because you were able to feel and touch.

How much you've been able to accomplish,

Experience,

Share,

Be part of that has happened because of your ability to touch and feel all the way up to this very moment.

Now take a moment to notice and appreciate how much you are experiencing every day because of your ability to smell.

How much smelling is helpful to everything that you do every single day.

How much smelling has helped you throughout your life even if smelling may not be as perfect as you wish or it comes with some challenges and difficulties.

Still,

This other sense,

The sense of smell that has helped you experience life in so many ways.

And then take a moment to notice how much you experience every day because of your ability to taste.

The nourishment of our body happens because we are also able to taste the food,

The nutrients,

The fluids that we drink,

That we eat every single day that nourishes the body.

All of those experiences are greatly enhanced because we can taste and enjoy.

And how much taste has been helpful throughout our life also to distinguish food and nutrients that perhaps were not necessarily very healthy.

And intelligence in the body that is able to distinguish by taste and by smell something that is healthy or not healthy for us.

How much throughout your life have you been able to enjoy and experience because you're able to taste even if at times you have indulged and perhaps overused in the sense of taste to satisfy other needs.

Still all that you have been able to experience because you're able to taste has made it possible for you to be where you are right now.

Lastly although this is not one of the senses but part of the intelligent organization of the many different systems within our body,

Take a moment also to appreciate your ability to speak even if with difficulties,

With the support of aids,

With some challenges.

Still notice how much you're able to experience every day because you're able to speak and communicate with others.

How much has happened throughout your entire life because of your ability to speak.

Your ability to express your thoughts,

Your emotions,

Your needs,

Your thoughts,

Your likes and dislikes because you can speak.

How amazing to take this time and slow down and mindfully appreciate how much happens every single day because we are able to experience all that we experience through our senses.

Our life no matter the conditions that we're in is for sure enhanced by our capacity to see,

To hear,

To touch,

Smell,

Taste,

Feel and our capacity to speak.

Even if and when any of these available experiences comes with challenges,

Difficulties and requires support,

Aid,

May not be pleasant,

Comes with struggles,

Still if you hear now,

Hearing this,

Experiencing this moment,

Please consider how much is possible that allows you to experience this moment in your life.

How much supports you every single day because of this body and the senses that help organize it and that help you and I experience everything that we are experiencing and have experienced throughout our entire life all because of this body and its senses.

May you continue to enjoy every single moment of experience in your life,

In your journey because of what you're able to experience through your body and through your senses.
