Welcome to day five of Mental Floss.
Today is all about overwhelm.
So find a place now,
Take a moment to sit,
Recline or lay down calmly,
Comfortably and safely.
Have yourself a shuffle around and allow yourself to take a few longer,
Slower,
Deeper breaths as your eyes comfortably close down.
Now sensing your body as a whole,
As you sit there,
As you recline or as you lay here,
Feeling the contact of your body with the surface beneath you.
Feel the soles of your feet,
Your heels,
Your toes.
Notice how you can feel the sensations.
No imagining this time,
No image,
No pictures,
Just the feeling.
That's right.
Just feeling your feet on the outside and from the inside.
Feeling your calf muscles,
Your knees,
Your thigh muscles up to your stomach.
Notice if you're holding any tension there and allow yourself to soften the stomach and release.
Just feeling your stomach moving as you inhale and exhale.
Feeling your lower back now.
Moving to your upper back,
Your shoulders relaxing,
Sensing all the sensations around your chest,
Your ribs.
Moving,
Expanding and contracting,
Breathing,
Filling,
Emptying,
Your lungs moving,
Your heart beating,
Softly relaxing,
Chest rising and falling.
Feeling your arms,
Your elbows,
Your forearms,
Wrists and hands and fingers.
The feel of any material touching those fingers.
Your neck,
Your head.
Feeling your mouth and jaw relaxing,
Forehead relaxing,
Your eyes relaxing and feeling your fingers and toes once again.
And beginning to gently move your fingers and toes,
Slowly moving,
Wiggling,
Now moving your arms slightly,
One after the next.
Beginning to notice the sounds around you,
Making them clearer and louder and gently opening your eyes.
