Hi,
Good morning,
Good afternoon,
Good evening,
Wherever you are in this beautiful world,
In your beautiful day.
I love this technique.
It's a fun one,
The internal weather report,
And you can absolutely do this as a journaling exercise as well if you prefer.
So,
Get yourself comfortable.
You can do it with your eyes open or closed,
Sitting,
Standing,
Lying down.
And first,
I want you just to think about the weather today.
Was it warm,
Cool,
Crisp?
Was the sun shining or was the rain pouring down?
Was it cloudy or clear?
Just find some words to describe the weather that you've experienced today,
Wherever you are.
Beautiful.
Just keep finding those words,
Being as descriptive as your brain will allow you to be today in this moment.
There's no right or wrong.
Now,
Just examining and giving a weather report for the place that you are right now.
It's practice for the real weather report,
Your internal weather.
So now,
Just start to take in how you feel.
How's your body in this moment?
Where's your mind at?
Your emotions?
And I want you to start describing those feelings and experiences as if they too were weather.
Perhaps your heart feels a little cloudy.
Maybe your mind feels like there's thunder and lightning with all the ideas going through it.
Maybe it's sunshine in your stomach or pouring with rain down your legs and on your feet.
What words do you use to describe how you are in this moment as if you were the weather report?
And of course,
You don't have to stick with weather terminology.
If you start to connect into those feelings and sensations and it feels safe to do so,
You can describe them however they are for you.
Just keep checking in with yourself,
Acknowledging how you feel right here,
Right now.
Amazing,
Beautiful.
I hope that that has given you a bit of insight to how you are today.
And I'm sure it's given you and your mind some ideas of things you might need in order to nourish yourself a little more.
So please do so after this technique.
Excellent.
Now just let all the words and sensations and experiences drift away.
Slowly connect to the rhythm of your breath,
Just for a couple of natural inhales and exhales.
And start to bring some gentle movement to your body,
However that feels good for you.
Opening up the eyes if you closed them,
Stretching,
Smiling,
And being ready for the rest of your day.
Please take care of yourself.
Do whatever you need to nourish yourself.
Any hints and tips that came from your internal weather report.
And of course,
I hope to see you here again soon.
Take care.
