Social media is a means for us all to stay connected,
But sometimes it feels as if it's pulling us apart.
It can seem critical and alienating.
We feel alone on a deserted island with our values and perceptions of the world.
This is not what we signed up for.
Step away from social media.
Put down your phone and get comfortable in your chair.
Soften your gaze or close your eyes.
Focus now on your natural breath.
With each exhalation,
Allow any tension in your face,
Neck and shoulders to melt away.
Soften and relax.
Stay with your breath and let go of everything happening outside of you,
Everything that is not under your control.
Scan your body,
Your jaw,
Your neck,
Your shoulders and back,
Your arms and hands.
Wherever you find tension,
Breathe into the space.
Notice where in the body you may be holding tension and with each exhalation,
Relax and let go.
You are not your frustration.
The feelings that arise from social media come and go.
They're like clouds passing over a blue sky.
That blue sky is your mind.
Peaceful,
Serene,
Fixed and under no obligation to follow the dark clouds.
Let them pass by.
As we bring this practice to a close,
Remember that you can come back to this peaceful space anytime.
It's always right here inside of you.
