Hello,
And welcome to this guided meditation session that focuses on healing symptoms of PTSD.
My name is Ty,
And I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist.
As we go through this practice,
Think of me as a friend helping you through a difficult situation.
Let us begin.
Find a quiet space where you can sit or lie down without being disturbed.
Close your eyes gently and let your body begin to relax.
Feel free to adjust your posture until you're comfortable and supported.
Start by taking a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose.
Feel the air filling your lungs.
Hold for just a moment,
And then exhale fully through your mouth,
Releasing any tension.
Take another slow,
Deep breath in,
And as you exhale,
Let go of any distractions.
Allow yourself to be fully present in the moment.
Inhale peace,
And exhale any stress or discomfort.
Now bring your awareness to the sensations of your body against the surface you're resting on.
Feel the weight of your body being supported by the earth below you.
Imagine that deep within the earth,
Roots are gently wrapping around your feet or your body,
Anchoring you to the ground.
With every breath,
Feel yourself becoming more and more rooted,
More stable,
As though you were one with the earth.
Allow any tension to melt away,
Knowing that you are held safe and supported by the earth beneath you.
Now I invite you to create a safe and peaceful place in your mind.
This is a personal space of healing and comfort.
It may be a place you've been before,
Or somewhere new entirely.
It could be a quiet room,
A beach,
Or a forest.
Whatever it is,
See it clearly in your mind's eye.
Notice the details of this place.
What does it look like?
What are the colors you see?
Are there any sounds,
Smells,
Or sensations that make this place feel calm and secure?
Take a moment to let this place fully form in your mind.
Here in this space,
You are completely safe.
Now bring your attention to your breath again.
With each inhale,
Imagine you are breathing in the peaceful energy of your safe place.
Let that calming energy fill your lungs,
Your chest,
Your heart.
Feel it soothing any tension or discomfort.
As you exhale,
Let go of anything that doesn't serve you.
Any fear,
Pain,
Or heaviness.
With every breath,
Feel lighter and more at ease.
As you continue to breathe deeply,
Gently bring to mind any memories or feelings that may arise related to your past.
Know that it's okay to acknowledge them,
But you are not defined by them.
Imagine these memories or feelings gently dissolving with every breath.
Picture them floating away from you like clouds being carried by a soft breeze.
See them drifting further and further away until you are no longer a part of your current experience.
Remind yourself,
I am safe here.
I am not my past.
I am healing.
Now envision a gentle,
Warm light above your head.
This is a healing light,
Filled with compassion,
Love,
And peace.
As you breathe in,
Imagine this light entering the top of your head,
Slowly spreading throughout your body.
Let this light float down into your chest,
Your arms,
And your legs.
Let it wash over any areas that may be holding tension or pain.
Allow it to bring healing to your mind,
Your heart,
And your body,
Releasing anything that is ready to be let go of.
Now gently repeat the following affirmations to yourself,
Either silently or aloud,
With each breath.
I am safe.
I am strong.
I am worthy of peace and healing.
I release the past,
And I embrace the present moment.
I am healing,
And I trust the process.
Feel these words sinking into your heart and your being,
Grounding you in the truth of your resilience and strength.
As we begin to end this meditation,
Take a deep,
Grounding breath.
Feeling your body in the present moment,
Here and now.
Gently bring your awareness back to the room around you.
Notice the sensations in your body and the space you're in.
Wiggle your fingers and toes,
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Bringing with you a sense of peace,
Strength,
And healing.
Take a moment to notice how you feel now compared to before.
Thank yourself for taking this time to heal.
Know that this sense of peace and safety is always available to you,
And you can return to this meditation whenever you need.
I hope this meditation provides you with a sense of calm,
Safety,
And strength.
Feel free to use it whenever you feel the need to reconnect with your healing process.
You are doing the important work of healing,
And you are worthy of that journey.
Thank you.
