Let's begin this meditation with a breath in through the nose and out through your mouth.
And when you think you're out of air,
Just blow a little bit more,
Possibly bringing your belly inward.
Welcome to this five minute preparation meditation for a meeting or transitioning into your work day.
The breath is one method of connecting with yourself and connecting with yourself is the best way that I know of to genuinely connect with others,
With a project,
With the world around you.
So continue breathing with some conscious awareness and just checking in with your body.
You might do some gentle neck rolls or just check in with those shoulders of ours that have such a tendency to come forward.
Being gentle as you invite them down or back,
Recognizing that part of the purpose of that collapse or hunch that can happen so easily is to protect our heart.
Just recognizing that opening ourselves,
Opening our hearts is an act of courage.
We don't want to force that.
Another active breath,
You might notice the thoughts on your mind or the quality of mind this morning.
You might notice yourself having some judgments or feelings about,
About me,
This meditation,
My voice,
The pace,
The invitations.
Or maybe you're able to settle into a more peaceful state where your thoughts and even my words are just drifting by you like clouds in the sky,
Present,
But not really impacting your state.
Taking another deep breath.
Feel your seat,
Whether you're on a chair or a cushion,
The ground.
Let yourself sink down into that support and then from there almost as if you're pushing up off the bottom of a pool,
Allow yourself to rise up through your hips,
Core,
Ribcage.
Let that heart come up again just a bit.
Shoulders down and back as you lengthen your neck up and picture that beam of light coming out the top of your head that you may have seen or heard referenced before.
Finally taking in this image of the light coming out from above,
Connecting you to the cosmos,
The universe,
Bursting through the atmosphere all the way into the infinite.
And remembering your seat on the ground,
Connecting to the molten,
Powerful,
Magnetic core of this earth that gives us life.
Let yourself be and enjoy the day.
