Welcome,
I'm Teresa I'm so glad you've chosen to spend this time with me.
Let's start by finding a position that allows your body to soften.
Taking a slow breath in.
And a gentle breath out.
Again,
Breathing in.
And letting go.
If it feels okay,
Just gently softening your gaze or closing your eyes.
Allowing yourself to arrive exactly as you are.
Nothing to solve.
Nothing to improve.
Nothing to become.
Just being here with me in this moment.
Many of us spend years searching for belonging.
We imagine it as a destination.
A place will finally arrive.
The perfect group of friends.
The perfect relationship.
A perfect community.
The place where we'll finally feel completely understood.
And while those places can certainly exist.
Sometimes the search itself becomes exhausting.
Because we begin believing that belonging is something we must earn.
Maybe if we're more confident.
More interesting.
More social.
More helpful.
More successful.
Then maybe we'll finally deserve our place.
Take a slow breath,
Noticing how your body responds to those words.
Now imagine setting down that heavy backpack.
The one filled with expectations.
With proving your worth.
With performing.
With trying to become enough.
Imagine placing it gently on the ground beside you.
And feel how much lighter your shoulders become.
Now picture yourself standing beneath a large tree.
Its roots stretched quietly beneath the earth.
You can't see them,
But they are there.
Holding the tree.
Connecting it to the soil.
Bringing it nourishment.
Belonging to the earth below.
The tree does not earn its roots.
That simply grows into them.
And perhaps belonging is something like that.
It's not something you perform.
But something you slowly grow into.
Let's consider the places your life already touches other lives.
Maybe it's the neighbor you exchange smiles with.
A familiar face at the gym.
A librarian who recognizes you.
A colleague who saves you a seat.
The friend who thinks of you.
A family member who reaches out.
Maybe none of these relationships feel perfect.
Maybe some are wonderfully ordinary.
And yet they are roots.
Quiet roots that are already holding you.
Take another nice,
Slow,
Gentle breath.
What if belonging isn't waiting somewhere else?
What if you were already growing into it?
Slowly Naturally.
Without needing to rush.
There may still be places where you long for deeper connection.
There may still be friendships you hope to build.
Communities you hope to find.
Dreams that haven't arrived yet.
And those longings are welcome here.
They don't need to disappear.
But perhaps they no longer need to convince you that you don't belong today.
You can long and belong at the very same time.
Let's rest here for a few quiet breaths.
Allowing yourself to feel supported by the unseen roots beneath you.
As we prepare to finish,
Bring one hand gently to your heart.
And feel your breath moving beneath your palms.
And remember,
You do not have to become extraordinary before you are allowed to belong.
You don't have to perform your way into community.
You don't have to earn your place.
Sometimes belonging grows quietly.
One familiar face.
One gentle conversation.
One ordinary morning at a time.
And may you continue growing roots exactly where your life is unfolding.
And as you return to your day,
Remember as always,
You are loved,
You are whole,
You are enough.
