I call this meditation finding your feet.
It's a quick meditation that you can do at any point.
It's particularly helpful when feeling anxious or overwhelmed.
The question to begin is,
Where are my feet?
So ask yourself that right now.
Where are my feet?
And of course,
They're in the present moment.
They always are.
That's why they're a great anchor of attention.
So to begin,
Ask yourself,
Where are my feet?
They're always in the present moment.
And once you find your feet in the present moment,
Begin to explore the direct felt sensations that can be known about the feet in this moment.
Feeling a quality of curiosity and investigation.
Are there sensations that you notice in the feet right now?
Perhaps pulsing or tingling.
You might notice air temperature,
Heat or coolness.
There might be an awareness of dryness or dampness.
You're not trying to change anything.
You're simply exploring what can be known about the feet in this moment.
Maybe there's a sense of neutrality.
And what's that like?
Or perhaps the right foot feels different from the left.
You don't need to make anything different here.
Simply investigating what's here already.
Taking a couple of deep breaths,
Breathing in and out.
And allowing your attention to arrive and settle in this moment as it is.
Maybe even inviting a sense of groundedness or support.
Feeling where the feet are making contact with the floor or whatever surface that you're on.
And feeling where the feet are making contact with the floor or whatever surface that you're on.
And as you feel ready,
Maybe wiggling the toes,
Taking a couple of deep breaths and opening the eyes if they've been closed.
